Will Rogers World Airport Announces Nonstop Service to Washington D.C. on United Airlines
OKLAHOMA CITY –Will Rogers World Airport announced today that United Airlines and their United Express partner, Mesa Airlines, will begin daily nonstop service to Washington/Dulles International (IAD) Airport from Oklahoma City starting June 7, 2007. The new service is the only scheduled nonstop flight between OKC and the Washington D.C. area and will be timed to connect to United’s major international bank of flights at Washington/Dulles International Airport.

“Securing nonstop service to the Washington D.C. area has been high on our priority list,” says airport director Mark Kranenburg. “It is a route we feel is critical to the continued growth of the airport and Oklahoma City. “We are glad United Airlines recognizes Washington D.C. as an important destination for our community.” The Washington D.C. area is one of Oklahoma City’s top 5 destinations.

United Express will operate the explus service seven days a week with the Canadair Regional Jet 700 that offers three seating options including United First® Class and Economy Plus®. Each row contains only four seats with two seats on either side of the aisle, eliminating undesirable middle seats along with providing easy access to overhead bins.

That airport director should be the next OK Gov or FAA Administrator....I mean OKC, FAA, DC.....mmm no connection there is there???  banghead

Can't understand why it has not been higher on the airline non-stop list before.....the FAA could almost run a corporate shuttle between OKC and IAD/DCA.

Glad to see OKC get nob stop to IAD finally. Any info on the flight departure/arrival time? I assume it will arrive in IAD sometime in the early afternoon to make all the connections with the international bank.
I wish UA flew mainline to MYR, that way you wouldn't be stuck in a smelly Saturn for 12 hours.

Think about how many FAA employees will be looking at those missing track covers, loose seat pouches, trim strips migrating, broken latches, frayed carpet, touch-up paint in the rvsm critical area...especially on the OKC-IAD flight.

Brave to put Mesa on that routing.

LMAO....what?

You think the folks on offical travel, which is what the operator (Mesa or Oklahoma City Taxi group, or who ever) on this route is going to see will remotely resembe an inspection? They just want to get to DC and check into the hotel for a weeks worth of meetings or training, they are for the most part not inspectors or anything close to flight standards people doing an inspection.

Wow, i missed this before, great news for okc! United seems to be trying to boost its capital to capital connections, although perhaps this is just coincidence.

I've been hoping for a nonstop flight to IAD for a long time and often wondered why we didn't already have one. Aside from CO's nonstop to OKC-EWR, this is the only other east coast flight available from OKC nonstop. We also have nonstop service from OKC-LAX with an RJ daily. The new airport probably has something to do with the expansion at OKC. Our new airport, (well, the half that is finished) is really top notch. Much more aesthetically pleasing than the old one. Once they finish the second terminal it will be great with all those gates. I think WN is planning on taking over most of the gates on the newer wing once it is completed as all WN flights leave closest to where the second new terminal is being built.

In the past UA has been a bit dodgey at OKC. They even pulled all the ORD flights in the 1990's and we only had DEN service non-stop. Now we have DEN, IAD, ORD, and LAX. And I think DL has an RJ flight to MCO now nonstop from OKC.

UAL747, any word on if UA plans to start SFO-IAD? Seems like its gradually turning into a focus city, or at least a point that could be served from all 5 hubs?

Not sure what you are talking about here, but I highly doubt UA would turn OKC into a focus city. As far as SFO and IAD, there are many nonstop flights between those two cities everyday. They are United's Main Hub cities.

United is currently in the process of expanding through "filling in the gaps" in the network. If a SFO-OKC stage is deemed fit for service, you'll see it. I don't follow United Express stage expansion as being is Asia is tough, yet I do know of the current system enhancement that management has taking place. You'll notice more stations we already operate to will be getting service to hubs rather than new stations being set up.

Any more questions that I can answer in more detail, feel free to message me as I can perhaps discuss the overall enhancement in more detail.
