AF IAD-CDG Question

Mon Feb 26, 2007 1:08 am

I'm scheduled to fly AF027 in a week or so IAD-CDG. When I booked the trip, the flight was listed as being a 772, but I noticed on flightaware that recently it has consistently been operated by a 332. Any AF insiders (or anyone else) know the reason for the change? I was thinking it might go back to a 772 on 3/1 or something, but I was just wondering if anyone had any insight. Thanks!

The 332's interior is actually superior in terms of comfort and IFE.... this change happens somewhat frequently during the winter.

AF and ADP web sites both mention a 772 from march 1 to 4 for AF027 (I dind't check before or after). Washington is served all year round by AF with 2 daily flights operated in 772 and during the summer season (end march to end oct), there is an additional flight operated as AF024/AF025 with a 332. The change you saw on flightaware was maybe just an operational adjustment ?

This is not neccessarily true. Air France is currently re-equiping all of their cabins with a new product in all classes. The 772 and 77W will have 3-class service with a redesigned F, J and Y. The 744, 343 and 332 will have 2 classes, and consist of the new J and Y. The newer configuration (and IFE) is better on the planes that have been redone, the others will still have the older tempo seats.

Regarding the scheduling, AF027 according to amadeus.net is scheduled to run with a 772 for the first week in March. I did not check before or after those dates.

The IAD-CDG route has 1 daily complemented by AF027 which does not operate every day. It likely was downgraded to the 332 during the off season and is moving back to the 772 for spring and summer.

Ah, I forgot. I have not been on one of the reconfigured 772s. If you get one of those, surely you're golden as well.

Well, I've been following it for several weeks and it looks like it's been 332 the whole time. BTW, does anyone know what the load factors in Y are like on this flight during this season?

That's perfect though, as that's when I'm flying.

From what I see, it looks like you'll be on a B772; Which is fine...(A specific date would help though...) it was relatively comfortable, (I personally had bad seats.... once i got the middle seat between two big guys (DXB-CDG), and then the other time I got the last row aisle seat next to a man who smelled just AWFUL (CDG-IAD). The IFE was okay. I would hope that it has been changed... On the other hand I flew a KL A332 to AMS from IAD on the opposite end of that same trip, and the A332 was just a beautiful A/C. IFE was superb.

From what I see, load factors look around 60-75 percent..... Try to get onto AF.com and pick your seats!

Yeah, I actually did when I booked the flight, but it doesn't look like the chart has been updated with the locations of bookings since then, so I'm not sure if they've assigned a 300 pound dude to 43B yet, or if that's gonna come later  Silly . I'm in 43A, so it's sure nice that I don't have to make a connection at CDG, as it'll take a while to deplane.
