Mon Feb 26, 2007 11:20 am

Hi,

there is an unmarked 727 parked at Ontario,CA which is used for airport filming. Does anybody have some further information about its identity (construction number, etc.)?

Thank you in advance,
Phil / EDDL

It was owned by UA, and was still in a dumbed down UA livery when they used it for filming the TV series 'LAX.'

When they prepared it for filming, they took out the engines and other vitals, so now it's just a giant paperweight. I do believe they left in the hydraulics for braking and airstairs.

I remember when they towed it over to the old Lockheed area and stuck it in a hanger there for a few weeks.

The aircraft, along with a pseudo terminal is maintained by the airport operator specifically for use as part of film/TV production work. (Hey this is Hollywood after all)

LA/Ontario International Airport (ONT) is pleased to offer its facilities to your production company. There are many usable sites at ONT available for filming 24 hours a day. A closed passenger terminal, a Boeing 727-200 airliner with full cabin interior and cockpit, unoccupied hangars and buildings, an ultra-modern passenger complex, aircraft parking areas, airline ticket counters, baggage claim areas, parking lots and curbside check-in await moviemakers.

If you have any doubts as to who owns that aircraft, just look at the corporate logo at www.lawa.org

ONT has been used for filming multiple times. One of the more recent times was when it stood in for MIA in "Catch Me if You Can."
