Why is that? Has it something to do with crew training? I finish at 14.30, might go there.

Just saw on the Schiphol website that tomorrow the same afternoon flight will also be operated by 772.
Again LGW-AMS-LGW

Still guessing why....

Has there been any cancelled flights between both countries recently. Perhaps it could have been a rescue flight?  airplane   wave

Then why not replace them with A320 or 767s? 777's seem a tad excessive, esp considering how BA needs all their widebodies. Odd!

The only LGW based aircraft and crew are 737s and 777s so to bring in an A32x/757/767 from up the road with crew just for a sector or two wouldn't be as easy as using a spare 777 and LGW based crew (I am guessing anyway)

Ah ok. I wasn't aware of that, thanks. I guess since they were short sectors, it didn't mess with any long haul flights?

All our long haul flights depart by the early afternoon with the last long haul departure being the BDA leaving around 14:25 I think, and this does not operate on a Monday so I can only assume any 777s used on AMS and MAD this afternoon must have been spare aircraft which were not being utilised for long haul ops today (26th Feb)

What might that be as I lived in Holland for 9 years. Maybe I missed it, but anything available in Amsterdam is also available in London in the Queens Englist to boot.

Is there anyone with more info now? Is it really a shortage of 737's or crew training.

Basically it was because we had a few 737s go tech. For me it was a lovely day as I ended up operating on the 777 to MAD and back - I thought we would have had an huge load but it was only the loads that were booked on the original 737 flights. I can safely say that those in Club Europe truly appreciated the upgrade to Club World.

All in all a great experience for passengers and crew.
If only all flights were that pleasant.
