Come summer Des Moines Allegiant Service will be --

Las Vegas -- Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday
Orlando -- Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday
St. Pete -- Sunday, Wednesday

I'm a bit surprised that Orlando service is not offered on Saturdays, and that Las Vegas just doesn't continue through the summer on Tuesdays. Peoria is also dropping down to no Tuesday service in the summer.

Nearby Cedar Rapids is Las Vegas service Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Orlando on Monday, Wednesday, Saturday.

I wonder how long it will take before Cedar Rapids to St. Pete is announced.

Tuesday was historically a slow day for Allegiant, they've used it to catch up with aircraft servicing.

The Tuesday flights were added to meet some peak period demand and increase utilization as the fleet has grown but I'm not sure that for LAS flights at any city it will be a normal thing.

DSM-PIE seems like a really strange pairing. I havent analyzed the flight schedule, but I would imagine this is to connect people to other Allegiant flights. Or is there sufficient O&D traffic between these cities?

I'm sorry, please ignore the above post. My head isn't working right with the stock market taking a dump, but I thought PIE was referring to Peoria instead of St Petersburg. Sorry about that. Now the route makes sense

What is the complete List?

I know of:

  • TOL
  • LAN
  • SBN
  • FWA

it was normal for a great deal of cities starting about May of last year.

there are still Tuesday flights scheduled in the summer.

Pasco and Redmond come to mind.

Redmond will be a seasonal flight on Tues for now, we will see if they keep a 3rd flight and if it stays on Tues. Fargo also is currently seeing Tues but that disappears in April.

But Tuesday is not a frequency they do much at LAS, just a few markets for different reasons, mainly to get more flights into some markets at peak periods.

Consider some of their largest markets: BLI-LAS and ICT-LAS are both currently 7 days a week but the Tues frequency goes away in mid-April; FAT-LAS and COS-LAS are both 5 days a week-no Tues or Sat;

Actually any Tuesday flight is a recent development. As I mentioned before that used to be a no-flight day to allow Mx and other items to be accomplished.

Don't worry, it took me about 5 seconds to realize it too.

Go G4! Seems like the NW-owned markets are really working well for them.

i'm sure Tuesday flights will go away in September, and make a re-appearance in November or so for some markets with more gaining momentum for them later on. Seems to be the formula Allegiant went with this past year and nothing got pulled before end of schedule. It seems to have worked well for them.

And I also expect they will continue to do some Tuesdays but Allegiant is a long way from doing a full Tuesday schedule. Many other airlines reduce schedules on Saturday but that is a big day for Allegiant.

I think they will also experiment with a few other scheduling changes. Right now Allegiant's average aircraft utilization versus other airlines is low. My guess is aircraft utilization will be the source of a larger part of Allegiant's growth this year since it looks like fleet growth may not be as large as previously expected.

I know that there are maybe 1 or 2 of their Las Vegas based planes that see 3 cycles per day. Of course trying to fit 3 Las Vegas - outbound turns a day can be tricky depending on the destination, etc. Be curious to see what red eyes are introduced in the nex year.

And at the same time, as an after thought there are some planes that only see 1.

I am a Las Vegas native and have watched Allegiant from the begining (I even convinced my parents to buy stock in the company). What is the latest on their aquisition of additional MD-80's? I flew them from SCK to LAS during the holidays and was very impressed, not to mention a GREAT last minute fare.

If you happen to have anything of the sort, I'd love to see a history timeline of the company's growth over the years.
It'd be an interesting summary.

They were planning on buying aircraft from AS but it appears that deal may now be dead. The word is that Alaska wanted to include a non-compete clause in the contract and Allegiant did not want to be constrained. Maybe an Alaska or Allegiant employee has more details or more recent info.

Allegiant's most recent financials indicate they currently expect to grow the fleet by a minimum of 3 or 4 aircraft this year so I would not be surprised if they work on increasing aircraft utilization.

If you have some specific history request I can also add a little. I've been tracking Allegiant since they were originally founded here in Fresno 10 years ago.

well ... just be neat to see a timeline say like since they started the Las Vegas - type of service they offer now since early 02 or so.

Did you see the charts they used at the Raymond James conference? Slides 4, 5, and 6 at this link show the route map in Dec 2002, Dec 2004 and January 2007.

I was looking at Allegiant's schedule for the fall, and saw that it looks like they are dropping Chattanooga, TN. Is this accurate or am I reading the wrong thing?

The schedules aren't out past the middle of August for anywhere.

Is the range of the MD88 more then that of the MD83? If they were to go out and get some free MD88s would they be able to put more pax in those or would it still be seating at 150? Just curious, that's all. It is interesting about the Alaska deal.

I noticed on their route map that they serve all the cities that surround the Quad Cities, but not the Quad Cities itself. Is this due to the QC having FL? I would love to have service to LAS back after FL tried it and pulled out after a few months.

I would guess this would be the major factor why they don't serve MLI. At the time G4 started CID, FL was running LAS flights out of MLI. I think a big factor that was given as an explanation why the FL flights were cut from MLI was because G4 had better schedules and was pulling pax from MLI to CID for the LAS flights.

As Flyinryan said, August is the current booking window. Unlike legacies which might show schedules and fares out 300 days, Allegiant uses a shorter time

Interesting. Good news none the less. The only thing that worries me is the 7am departure from PIE, which is a little early for some people, but they will have to do.

I thought the same thing too, that's an early departure time to come back (although good I guess if you are originating in PIE going to DSM to visit). I have always thought the 8:45am departure back to CID from SFB was early too. Usually when I am on vacation I look for a later afternoon flight coming back so I can try to get a little more time at my vacation destination. Going on vacation I always look for the earliest to get to my destination sooner  Smile
