Alaska 737-900 Routes

Mon Jul 24, 2000 7:57 pm

I just saw that Alaska has taken delivery of the first 737-900. Does anyone know which routes they will be used on? Thanks.

Here's a nice shot of the plane from Boeing's web site.

I would think they will be seen between Alaska, Seatac and LAX to name a few.

Actually, Alaska Airlines will not take delivery of the 739 until the plane is certified by the FAA late next spring.

I expect the 739 to be used on AS' heavily-used routes such as SEA-SFO and SEA-LAX.

As for CO's 739's, they will be used on heavily-travelled routes to and from IAH.

Look for the 739 to be used on the SEA-ANC run. Currently this is Alaska's busiest route with 25 peak flights a day in the summer in each direction. This route is currently served with md-80s (140 seats) and 737-400s (138 seats). AS will have the 737-900 configured for 172 seats (16 first class, 156 coach). Other routes would be SEA-LAX and SEA-SFO. You might see it in SNA where growth is restricted due to slot restrictions.
