Canjet On Its Way To Cyqb

Sun Mar 04, 2007 12:41 pm

Little treat for you Canjet fans, I just heard Canjet 8855 on New York Center, on its way from Montego Bay to Quebec. Boy it's a LONG flight on a 737-500!

That isn't a particularly long flight for a 735 based on the aircraft's capabilities.

Yes, CanJet flies charters from YHZ, YQB, YUL and YYZ to southern destinations using the 737-500 and their sole 737-300.

However, one problem that they've been encountering are the flights from YHZ to the Dominican Republic (PUJ or POP); as their planes are not ETOPS-equiped, they cannot simply fly over the water (as AC and WS do). They have to hug the Eastern seaboard of the US, which takes them longer. The are sometimes required to stop for fuel in NAS.

On the YHZ-CUN flight, CanJet has had to stop for fuel in CLT or PIE several times. In fact, at the very moment, CanJet 8704 from YHZ to CUN is headed to CLT for fuel. That causes many unforseen delays.
Next flights: YQM-YYZ-YOW v.v. / YQM-CUN v.v. / YQM-YUL-YWG v.v. / YSJ-YYZ-SEA-SFO / SFO-YYZ-YOW-YQM / YQM-YYZ-MUC-TXL /

AC used to do MBJ - YWG on 727s a ways back. 3887 km by Great Circle. YQB-MBJ is 3194 km, mind you somewhat longer for C6 due to lack of ETOPS. AC still fly it on 320s, also YWG - PUJ which is 4323 km.
Nostalgia isn't what it used to be.

Does Canjet still have the -300 ? Thought it went away after the reorganization along with a few -500s.
My definition of cool ? Not trying so hard to be cool.

They still have the 737-300. It's actually operating NAS-YYZ today (Sunday).
