Anyone else find it absurd they still have that flying around the system? It might be cool to see, but wow. That is more of a blast from the past then the retrojets, because I at least knew they were coming. I heard about this plane flying around like that back in 04, but I find it nearly impossible they still haven't done anything with it.

What's so absurd about it? Those things can still be seen in alot of areas....from Florida to the southwest. Get out and you'll see 'em...

That is the only plane that still has USAir Express titles. It is a B1900D for Air Midwest. I guess it just hasn't had a D-check in awhile (that's when the paint gets changed/reapplied).

There's probably more than one of these puppies out there in Air Midwest's system.

Yeah you could imagine my suprise when I saw a US Express B1900 landing @ DFW. But this is actually what appears to be a subcontractor, subbing out service. These flights out of DFW are operated by Air Midwest, Said to be operated by Mesa, and handled by the YX crew from check in to closing the door. My guess is that Air Midwest bought these off of Colgan after they started picking up S340's for that EAS thing.
I'd like to thank me for flying Me Airways...

Interesting how the livery has developed, from this pre-1995 to the black (or dark blue) and then what they use now....

Why...?? If it dosn't need paint, why paint it...? If the tires on your car are worn out, do you go out and buy a new car...?

I'm glad you mentioned this. When US/HP/YX/Mesa were in B, didn't US handle Mesa and YX flights at the gate? I guess YX got their own agents when they moved to E? Is that right?

Not necessarily operated by YV. I actually pushed this plane out of gate 15A in PHX on Saturday night...lol. It has a Mesa reg. but is operated by Air Midwest, different baggage load sheets and everything. It is a rough looking airplane though...my favorite one in the system is the all white 1900.....I think it N142YV.....not sure....Operations always says Casper is on the ground for whatever gate.
Ok, wait for the RJ to pass, cleared to push tail south Mike, and you're cleared to spin #2 in the push.

Your tires do not advertise who owns and operates the car.

This paint is at LEAST 12 years old, and is well overdue. It no longer marks the operator of ship.

It looks like it's had some sort of paint touch-up/removal between April 2006 and January 2007 (if the dates in the photos are correct.)

Air Midwest is owned by Mesa Air Group. (Kinda like saying Freedom Airlines pilots dont work for Mesa).

I love that bird. Every time I see her it brings back memories of my youth. USAir Dc-9's, Md-80's, Fokker 100's zipping around when PIT was a busy airport. Dash-8's, B1900's, J31's, D328's, S340's, SW4's, BE99's etc. I miss those days!

There is something to be said about brand image, and a clean "new" looking aircraft.

Not sure about who operated the ground handling, but in B Mesa's ticketing was done by Midwest.

Rewind my post 5 words. Operated by Air Midwest, Said to be operated by Mesa.... I know it's a mouth full and a pain to wrap your head around. Like Delta Operated by Shuttle America, handled by a different contract company...  banghead

While we're talking about about the 1900's - does anyone know if any will be painted in the new US livery? If they have already, there doesn't seem to be any pictures in the database . . .

Thanks!!

Air Midwest isnt a contract company. Theyre one of the subsidiary's of Mesa Air Group. (Mesa Airlines, Freedom Airlines, and Air Midwest).

Kinda like RAG consists of Republic, Shuttle America, and Chautauqua.

Speaking of Air Midwest/Mesa Beech 1900's, rumors around PRC are that the EAS for Great Lakes was up last month. I was wondering if anyone has any news on whether the the decision has been made on whether Air Midwest will get the new contract, or will Great Lakes continue operating EAS into PRC???

242YV is also still in the old USAir express colors. 159YV is also in an all-white scheme. The 'caspers' were left white so that they could be positioned into either the US Airways system feeding MCI, PIT and CLT or the Mesa branded flights in NM and AR.

Air Midwest is a wholly owned subsidiary of Mesa Air Group, which carries all the B1900's on its' certificate.
