Question Re: Tradewinds L1011s

Tue Jul 25, 2000 1:56 pm

Today at STL, I saw an L1011 at the gate where one normally sees L1011s and 727s from ATA, 727s from Sun Country, etc. This one had no lettered titles with the name of an airline, just a big American flag on the tail and some stylized letters on the #2 cowling that looked like ICLG or ICXG. Looking through the photos here on Airliners, I realized that it was a Tradewinds L1011; some of them say Tradwinds over the windows and some don't, but the photos here show all of them with that ICLG or ICXG on the tail. Nothing in the Commerical Jet Aircraft Census gave a clue as to what that means or stands for. Any clue? Thanks in advance.

Thats actually a stylized "IAG." This stands for International Aerospace Group, the lessor of the aircraft.

Thanks. That's why I looked at the Commercial Jet Aircraft Census, to see if there was some reference to the lessor or owner that would account for this. So I guess I had the right idea, just didn't get the answer there. Thank you for the explanation.
