A340 Conviasa Ready To Be Delivered?

Mon Mar 05, 2007 11:45 pm

The A340 in full Conviasa cs , stored at Paris Orly for months now , has received attention by Air France maintenance department , and NEW , has received its Venezuelan registration , YV1004.
Does this mean , delivery is imminent ?
Will Conviasa open Madrid with this Airbus ?

I would guess so, but didn't someone on here say this was going to Spanish operator Air Plus Commit?

It seems like Conviasa is coming to MAD soon. They already list Madrid in their website even though the booking engine doesn't work.

Yes you are right. This A340 , which at once was not taken up by Conviasa , was supposed to go to Air Comet.
But the latter beginns to receive ex A340s Virgin Atlantic.
So , obviously Conviasa changed their mind , and will finally accept it.

Oh well! Now things are starting to get interesting!

I don't think MAD is a good place for Conviasa to go to... too crowded!

Cheers

Air Comet.  Wink

As FCKC mentioned Air Comet is instead taking delivery of two ex-Virgin A340-300s. They have already taken delivery of one. The airline will also be taking delivery of two ex-Air Madrid A330-200s.

I'm very surprised about the change (at Conviasa). But not sure if this really happen... Perhaps they get the A340 before the bit CCS A.net meeting.

ha ha your right ... I can see them announcing in the comings days " New social route to Pyongyang or something similar" ha ha

We'll see if they are a real airline or just another member of the government.

If they announce a route to one of Chavez friends like Pyongyang or something like that then they will truly convince me that there is NO hope for that airline after the petro-dolars are gone... if they star a european route that has something to do with the Venezuelan an Latin-American market and that is at least economically feasible... yeah I know I'm just dreaming.... that will never happen.. I better just stop tipping he he
Planes are soooo sexy, that I dont want to have sex in a plane, but with a plane...!!!!!

Mid March would mean ---> next week.

I'm glad Conviasa will take delivery of their first widebody aircraft even though they are taking a worn out and old A340-200. Why no A340-300? More airlines are getting rid of their A340-300s these days and in the coming years as well. AC comes to mind as one of the bigger A340 operators to get rid of their A340-300s soon. Can't Conviasa take over ex-AC A340-300s as they are newer as well? The A340-200 Conviasa will take over is one of the first built A340s as far as I know, if not the first built A340.
