New KLM J Class Seat Same As CO?

Tue Mar 06, 2007 7:20 am

Sorry if this has been discussed...cannot find anything in the search.
It just struck me that the new KLM J seat (777, A330, some 744) is almost identical to the CO BF seat on the 777.
Anyone else have this observation?

Oh dear...
First of all, KLM has 2-3-2 in World Business, but Continental has 2-2-2 in Business First (both 777) so the Continental seat is wider (20 versus 22 inch).
Apart from that, they are both 170 degree reclining and it doesn't take rocket science to compare http://www.klm.com/travel/nl_nl/trav...n_board/travel_classes/index.htm#1 with http://www.continental.com/web/en-US...l/inflight/businessfirst/777.aspx?

Hope this helps and find a little patience next time.

The CO business class seat is more comfortable than the KL product. The CO feels like a newer product the KL seats in the MD11 feels old fashioned.

Patience is indeed a virtue....
My point is, they look very similar. The hoods, the swivel at the end of the armrest, the location of the controls. Maybe from the same manufacturer?

Warren...I know the MD11 seats are old. I am referring to the new ones on the 330, 777, some of the 744 and next winter the 11 gets them.

Yes, they are from the same manufacturer, and they are basically the same seat, except for the width and some small details. I once read an interview with a KLM executive, who was refering to the complaints about the angle of the seats. He said that he was surprised, as the angle was identical to the CO seat. I wonder why people often call it the slider seat then, maybe they use another fabric than CO, that causes sliding?

I thought it was properly referred to as the "Slippery Slope Seat"  Wink

The New slippery slope seat now on NW is extremely uncomfortable compared to the old seats with simple adjustment which actually is more suited for sleeping.
