Transavia France

Tue Mar 06, 2007 7:14 pm

Towards the end of last year, Air France announced the creation of an LCC to operate from Paris Orly to destinations in the Mediterranean basin. It was to be called Transavia.com and begin operations in early summer 2007. The fleet would be composed of B737-800s (presumably from the Transavia fleet).

Since that announcement, I haven't heard anything about it. I checked the website for Transavia and they say that flights would be available for booking in February 2007, but still nothing. No certainty as to the destinations they will fly to yet.

I am hoping for a Paris - Ibiza direct, not that I mind the Air Nostrum / Iberia Regional flights on offer during the summer, but it would be good to get more airlines into that market.

Any news would be appreciated.

This is what they state on the website of Transavia France, they will start with 4 Boeing 738's based in ORY.
The website still mentions "summer 2007" as the start date of operations.

I've been looking into this and it appears Transavia France will start with:

OY-SEH (ex Sterling 737-85H)
OY-SEI (ex Sterling 737-85H)
2 SpiceJet aircraft, rumoured to come directly off the Boeing production line, so these would be 737-8GJ's. SpiceJet has 15 737's on order that are not yet delivered, including 737-900ER's. Naturally, there are rumours one of those 739's will come to Transavia France. Another month or two and we will know.

The ex- Sterling 737-800 OY-SEH is now at MST. It is getting the HV-france c/s there. The new reg. will be F-GZHV.

I assume they are still negotiating with travel agencies about destinations and frequencies.

Will the HV France color scheme differ from the Dutch Transavia scheme? Are there already pictures on-line?

OY-SEH will become F-GZHV; will be painted in two days and will fly one month for HV in AMS before going to Orly
OY-SEI will become F-GZHN
2 others will be coming directly from Boeing; possibly original SpiceJet orders.

 pray  I hope so !!!

I would prefer to pay an extra 200€ on a full fare ticket for a nonstop ORY-LPA rather than a cheaper stand-bye ticket with a connection in MAD
However, I doubt that the Canary Islands will be among the first destinations of Transavia.com-France

The first flights should start in June and the destinations are to be announced in the coming days.

As said above, 4 B738 should be engaged next summer with 69 weekly flights planned.
2 more will be added in 2008 and then another 3 more.

Knowing that the priority countries announced before are Spain, Morocco, Italy, Tunisia and Egypt and that the destination served would not been already served by AF, I bet for :
Spain : Palma de Majorque, Ibiza
Morocco : Fez, Agadir and may be Ouarzazate, Essaouira, Tanger
Egypt : LXR, Aswan, Sharm-El-Sheik
Italy : Sardinia
Tunisia : Djerba

I think the first two destinations will be Porto and Girona (but well that could be just me  Wink)...also heard the transavia.com France code will be HN, bookings might start around the end of this month..

and the previous people were right about transavia.com NL using one of the 2 sterling a/c...rumors about the spicejet 739's are nonsense. The other 2 738 machines are indeed 2 old Spicejet orders.

FR aint going to like that. Both destinations they serve from BVA. Now while there is a good distance between ORY and BVA i doubt FR are just ging to let Trasavia into the Paris-Porto/Gerona without some form of response

It will be interesting to see, whether Transavia France will offer lowcost-ish (some routes are quite expensive) fares like their Dutch mother, or if they are chiefly drawing their market from inclusive tour contracts, only selling small remaining contingents to direct customers.

Maybe we will even see Transavia France compete with the low cost carriers on some key routes in the future.

Think what? AMS-CDG route operated by HV? If that would be a real money maker they would already have started that. Vueling is now beginning to compete on that route, the TGV Nord is extended and about to open somewhere this or next year, and Paris is still within driving distance for a lot of Dutch people. I give AMS-CDG by HV very little chances.

Air France announced today that it had reached an agreement with its pilots' union on Transavia France. Transavia France will not be allowed to fly any route that Air France already serves with the exception of Marrakech. Transavia France will operate the Paris - Porto flights that Air France pulled out of opting for a codeshare agreement with Portugalia that will end shortly. The Paris-Porto Transavia flights will start in May (most likely out of Orly, not CDG). Other than that, still waitiing to hear what destinations will be served. Transavia France will also be prohibited from operating any aircraft with over 200 seats.
