Allegiant To Announce TRI On Wed 3/14

Wed Mar 14, 2007 6:39 am

I brought this one up about 3 weeks ago. Looks like its a go, Allegiant service for the Bristol/Johnson City TN area.

Last month TRI was talking about a proposal they made to Allegiant. TRI was offering to hire employees and buy ground equipment. Allegiant would be charged a landing fee and a per turn fee which would cover all other terminal costs and the ground services for the flight.

Was US the last carrier to offer mainline service to TRI? I find it very interesting Allegiant returns mainline aircraft to markets without for almost 10 years.

Good question, it is not a market I am familiar with. Somehow I've never had a client in that immediate area, although I have been within 60 miles of TRI.

Their whole model is fun to watch.

Good for TRI. My brother lives about nine miles from the TRI airport. Over the years they've usually had to travel to BNA,
a 300 mile drive to get good fares. As I understand TRI has been more a commuter airport for the last twenty or so years.

isnt Tri Cities somewhat close to Knoxville?

will the two cities be competing with one another
if assumptions could fly, airliners.net would be the world's busiest airport

About 75 miles down I-81 and the I-40/I-75 interchange.
