Techno Dance Party At AMS Luggage Basement

Tue Mar 20, 2007 12:53 am

Last Friday, a dance party took place at a (still unused) luggage basement under the terminal of Schiphol airport. Music was played by the well-known DJ Tiësto. The event marked the start of his world tour "Elements of Life" which will take him to 55 countries in the coming year and a half. It was the first concert of its kind at AMS; the luggage hall will open in a few months.

I've seen him play techno sets.

Either way - LEGEND.

It looks like a hell of a party.

Did they have to go through security before attending? This looks pretty sweet.

I was going to go this.

Tiesto didn't announce where he was holding the concert when he started selling tickets, as it was a mystery. I am double gutted now I didn't go!

Tiesto is wack. Armin Van Buuren is better. Tiesto comes here to NYC everyone pays huge amounts to see him and he only plays for 2.5 hours and leaves. Armin plays for 6 hours and I think his music is much better. Both are Trance.

I like both of them, for me the 2 best DJ, when the come to Mexico last December I went to both of them and yes it's true Armin play much longer that Tiesto, Armin play from 11:30pm to 7:00am I think (I went home at 4:30am) and Tiesto play from 11pm to 3am in the Plaza de Toros!
I wished I could go to that set in Schipol!

For some reason I hate that term "electronica" lol (not picking on you or anything Wardair 310). The way music is made nowadays, almost everything would be "electronica" lol

Imagine the party they coudl've thrown at that new waste of money concourse in the Miami terminal which is unused as of yet I think.. Imagine a dance music event inside an airport here in the US, what are the chances that'll ever happen??nah...  Wink

Wow that would be 3 things I love most coming together at once: aviation, trance music, and the hot girls that will be at the party.

I'd say Tiesto is more vocal trance if anything. Still, that must have been an epic event in a location that will not be available for events like this in the future. Reminds me of Mark Farina when he put out his CD Air Farina. The CD had a global air travel feel to it.

Back in February 2004 I scored a rt ticket on BA from SFO to LHR for $295. They were celebrating the Wright Brothers 100 year anniversary of their first flight so they were offering tickets from anywhere they flew in the US to LHR for $100 each way plus taxes. I took my trip in February which is the peak off season. I spent a week and a half clubbing around the UK. Got to see some great DJ's and doubleheader with a live tribal eletro band Weird Attractors and a 30 piece samba band from Southern England while I was in Edinburgh, Scotland. Got to see Steve Lawler spin at Sankey's Soap in Manchester, Deep Dish demo a new CD mixer at Turnmills in London and Rob DaBank put on a Sundays Best at a really cool pub on Chalk Farm Road in London as well. What an epic trip. I look forward to another trip to Europe so I can explore the electronic scene some more.....
I'm leavin on a jet plane. Don't know when I'll be back again....

Clubbing at AMS - now that is hot! That makes even IBZ airport seem tame - then again, IBZ is much smaller and there is nowhere imaginable they could hold something like that in that airport.

That must have been a great show by one of the world's greatest club DJs. Airlinebrat, Ibiza in the summer is a great place to experience many of the world's top DJ's, especially if you stay for 2 weeks as they generally alternate weeks at the events on the island. That said it is certainly not cheap. Your 2004 trip sounds like you really got around though.
