Airtran needs to realize that Midwest is not for sale and FL
should just accept failure. A little humility never hurt anyone and Airtran should be an expert in realizing that by this time. Its gotten so out of hand and Airtran is so unwilling to admit failure that it comes down to Midwest's famous cookies. YX
has said time and time again they are not for sale and Airtran is not a proper bed partner for them, to which Airtran always seems to imply, "Well, ok, but let me just peek into your panty drawer anyway." YX
is not going to open the "panty drawer" of hidden secrets so the pervert known as Airtran can learn even more about YX
Airtran has even gotten to the point where its basically begging for Midwest to consider a buyout. As their VP
was whining in the article, "Let's talk about price, price isn't an issue." Actually, it is, when you have an airline that provides superior service, comfortability, and style and that is being sought by a bottom-feeder such as Airtran. Airtran has even been making promises it can't keep. Which brings up the cookies. Airtran's planes do not have ovens, Airtran has no plans to install ovens, and it would extremely costly to try to outfit all of them with ovens in order to bake the cookies onboard, just as YX
and their customers prefer. No, Airtran will probably pass out packets of hard, stale cookies in little plastic wrap. They could at least have a Keebler Elf running up and down the aisle passing them out but alas, Keebler has declined.
Airtran needs to accept defeat, face humility, and realize that Midwest, "America's Favorite Little Airline" would be more willing to entertain an offer by Greyhound Bus Lines than even give a thought to Airtran. The BOD
has stated their position, the shareholders(who are YX
customers) are apparently unwilling to see the service they expect and prefer to suffer and be drawn down by the likes of Airtran. And yet, Airtran keeps upping the price, even though they STILL haven't been able to peek into YX
's books! They still haven't peeked into the books and can promise SO much, while also guaranteeing stimulated traffic into a market such as MKE
! Airtran's management is either really stupid with big cajones, or really, really smart, and I don't think its the latter. I see no Nobel Awards among them, just a bunch of fired execs that couldn't run big airlines.
