Photos of the A380 aren't priority screened, so it will be about a week before the first photos sneak by the screeners.  Wink

Here's one for your enjoyment  Smile

Landing 4R, returning from a JFK to JFK press flight just after doing a (very high) fly-by down 13R.

Nice picture! The A380 looks very graceful from that angle.  Smile

Another reason to HATE the press: They get to ride in a plane like this and will STILL come back reporting that they flew faster than the speed of sound, or somesuch nonsense. For a profession that focuses on 'getting facts right,' the press CANNOT do that when it comes to aviation or aircraft. Yet there they were, flying 'large' and probably quaffing down caviar the whole way.

For the video of the event

Check out the rudder movement on the second camera angle of the landing.

Is it snowing over there??

The second landing, with the big rudder compensation
was the landing in LAX and not in JFK !

yes that was the Qantas pilot. German precision on the other hand needs no compensation

Judging by that shot, I'm guessing JFK had pretty good conditions at the time of the flight? If so, you're lucky... Most of you have seen how LAX was when F-WWOW came in...

Well there aren't photos in the database but there are many many photos in the thread about A380 to JFK along with many video too. They just aren't in the photo database yet, but you can find a lot in the threads.

I was under the impression that the A380 was scheduled for 3/19/07. I was on a UA P. S. that just backed up from the gate heading to LAX at 11:10 am on Wed. Mar 21, yesterday. The captain came on speaker and said "Ladies and Gentleman, we have a treat today, if you look to the left side of the A/C the A380 is doing a flyby." Sure enough the A380 did a fly by from the front of us to the rear and it was pretty low I estimate about 3000 ft. (just a guess) It was awesome to be in the right place at the right time to witness such an event. Didn't have my camera out as who knew that was gonna happen. I'm not sure where it was heading, my guess is IAD or ORD.

I can tell you that the press was seated in coach and didn't get anything more than light refreshments on their 90 minute flight.

See here for a fully factual video of the media flight that includes no references to the sound barrier, the tennis courts, the shopping mall or the weight room.

Yes, Wed 3/21 was beautiful! Not a cloud in the sky all morning. We certainly were lucky!

The first arrival of the A380 in the US was on 3/19. The flight on 3/21 was a press tour, routing JFK to JFK. If you're talking about the flyby down 13R at JFK on Wed, that thing was higher than the Shuttle in orbit  Smile A huge disappointment. It was not headed for IAD or ORD, it flew out over the beach (Rockaways) and returned to land on runway 4R (see above photo).
