Alitalia´s 747-400s

Thu Jul 27, 2000 7:18 pm

Does anybody know the planned delivery dates and line-numbers of Alitalia´s five ordered 747-400s?
Will they get the first this year?

Deliveries start in 2002 I think. I believe the aircraft will operate routes such
as FCO/MXP to JFK, NRT, HKG, MIA, and possibly EZE. Not sure.

Alitalia's 747-200 fleet isn't really that old. I flew one a few years back from
JFK to Fiumicino and it had a certificate above the rear door stating that it
had been delivered in April 1985. Fifteen years old for a 747-200 is nothing.

Thanks a lot, Hamlet69.
(Wonder, where you have the info from, the B777 or A340-line-nos. are easy to get up to the year 2002, but the 747 is more difficult to find out.)

And I will tell no one...

There has also been word that the fleet will expand to more than the original 5 ordered. Rumors say that all of the options will be taken up also.

Yes, some more good news from my favorite airline.

5 new 747-400's......not bad for an airline that many consider "a mess".....give them time, they'll come around

What about the BKK-SYD route?

additionally will this mean that all of the 742s will be replaces or will they operate a mixed fleet disposing of the older 742's?

CX747,

I've heard that rumor. As well, I've heard that Alitalia will convert the 744 options into orders for the 777-300LR.
Now that would be neat!!
