Good for Allegiant! I assume they've done their homework, but I didn't know people would travel between two gambling cities. I guess the allure of Vegas is pretty strong...
Quoting FlyPNS1 (Reply 2):
While this is good for the people of GPT to have nonstop service to LAS, I don't really see how it benefits the casinos in GPT. If I live in GPT and have cheap air service to LAS, I'd be more likely to go to LAS and spend less time/money in GPT.
|Quoting FATFlyer (Reply 5):
It may be SFB to GPT as well as LAS, wait for the announcement.
|Quoting DLCnxgptjax (Reply 6):
I agree with you. I just went to Allegiants website to see if they announced anything yet. I didn't find any press releases, but GPT is listed under the destinations list. I tried to put in dates for GPT-LAS but didn't get anything. I did see that SFB was one of the two destinations I could choose from though.

The article didn't really mention it, but I'm sure one/some of the casinos are behind this new service.
Quoting Flyinryan99 (Reply 13):
On the Allegiant website they are selling Gulfport packages too....
Quoting FATFlyer (Reply 14):
I wonder what they see as potential.
Quoting MSYtristar (Reply 16):
To be honest, besides the casinos in the area and some NASA related business, there is not a lot going on. GPT is sort of in the middle of the two main business markets on the Gulf Coast. I think they are counting on some drive in passengers from the MOB area to help make this work.
Quoting FATFlyer (Reply 18):
That is why I added Flyinryan99's quote. I wonder if they see potential to create a small focus city at GPT. Since they are selling packages for the casinos they may have their eye on a few other routes.

Quoting STLGph (Reply 21):
there's a couple of other larger markets that might be able to sustain the service, but not at all of them.
Quoting FATFlyer (Reply 23):
If they grow GPT it would never reach the size of the larger focus cities.
Quoting DLCnxgptjax (Reply 24):
I totally agree with this statement. IF they decided to grow the operation in the future, I see no more than maybe 2 or 3 additional destinations.

Another airline MOB has lost out to neighbors.
