Air Canada Summer Schedule To Europe

Sun Mar 25, 2007 4:28 pm

I was wondering if someone could post all the flights Air Canada has to Europe for this summer. I ask because I'm planning a trip to Amsterdam and I just found out Air Canada does not fly there although the route map on their website says this route is operated by Air Canada. What gives?

Thanks in advance for your information !

Cheers

AMS was dropped due to low yields. I have sent a msg to the IT dept to see if they are updating the interactive route map. If you had checked the schedule you would not find YYZ-AMS. That also would be a good place to find what your looking for regarding AC's European routes.

Fly KLM they are a great airline, Unless you are a gold card frequent flyer with Air Canada why not fly nonstop from YYZ to Amsterdam. The dutch are the most gracious people in the world.

If you are departing from western Canada to get to AMS you have these options.

YVR-AMS.KLM,Martinair.Nonstops.
YYC-AMS.Air transat,Martinair.Nonstops. or you can do YYC-LHR on AC and then connect.
YEG-AMS.Martinair.Nonstops.or YEG-LHR on AC and connect.

KL through AMS would always be my preference......especially if you are in transit. AMS is such a pleasure to travel through.
Plus KL have a lovely product across the Atlantic.
Having said that , I still plan to use AC on my next trip home though (DUB-LHR-YVR).....that Aeroplan card has a terrible hold over me !
Looking forward to seeing the new AC cabin refits.
I flew YVR-LHR in Jan on a tired looking AC 767 and then LHR-YVR last month on a BA744. The difference was amazing, so I hope for a nice surprise from AC in June !

Just out of curiosity, has traffic increased on YYZ CDG? If memory serves AC formerly operated just 1x daily 763 to CDG fro YYZ and AF alternated between a daily 333 or 343 from YYZ. Now according to this AC is increasing to 333/343 and AF have previously announced upguage to a 744 for summer season. Any idea why there has been such growth on the route?

Actually, AC has decreased the number of seats offered on YYZ-CDG. In July and August of last year (2006), it operated two daily flights, one with a 767-300 and one with a 767-200. This year, there is only one flight a day, with an A330-300.

As for AF, I believe they have in fact increased the number of seats (from 332 or 343 to 744).

You're profile says you're located in YVR. The obvious would be KLM's daily non-stop to AMS. If price is an issue, you could take MP or TS to AMS as well.

If you need to fly on AC or other *A partners, you could also take either AC to LHR and cnx to AMS or you could take LH to FRA and cnx through there.

Another option, if you're planning to rent a car, is to take LT to DUS, rent a car (or take the train) up to AMS, it's just under 3 hours driving time.

Then there is also BA to LHR, DE to FRA (in which case you can also get cnx flights to other cities in Germany with LH) and TS to FRA.

Well the idea of KLM having a lovely product across the atlantic ultimately depends on the aircraft you get. A 747 or an MD-11, then don't forget a few of your favourite reads. However many have said on this forum that their AVOD is excellent, comparable to the Emirates ICE system.

Your second point is certinaly valid, a fantastic airport to transfer flights at!  Smile

Okay, great... I know of Air Transat, but how the hell does one book flights on Martinair? I've been to their website because I wanted to buy a ticket to Amsterdam a few days ago, but they didn't give me that option. The website only talks about Calgary as a destination, but I couldn't find a place to book it....

Thanks

Vio,you can book MP flights through a Travel agent. All flights are operated by 767-300ER's,It is a twice weekly flight routed AMS-YEG-YYC-AMS and AMS-YYC-YEG-AMS depending on the day.If you do use them I suggest booking ''star class''.

MP just got rid of that product this week. What's left is regular Economy or so-called Comfort Class. The same seats, but CC offers quite a bit more legroom, a bit more service and the free use of a DigEplayer (the poor airline's AVOD). The extra price is about 50 euros one-way, and is really worth it IMHO. Actually, the Comfort Class' success is the main reason for the StarClass' demise.
