A380 At LIS Now!

Tue Mar 27, 2007 1:50 am

Shock surprise!!! The A380 just passed in front of my office landing at LIS! Cool. It touches down as I write, so spotters get your gear ready! It landed at 03.

Edit: this must be the A380's first visit to LIS I suppose.

I was going to ask you what the ____ have you been drinking? But it is true.

I can hardly believe it that the A380 made a quick visit to Lisbon.

Okay, lets make something clear.

An A380 has 4 engines and is very big.

An A300 has 2 engines and its new for me that TP has those birds.

An A310 has 2 engines and is smaller than an A310. TP has them.

An A340 is little larger than A300 and has 4 engines, in professional circles the engines are called Hairdryers.

An A330 is the same size like A340, but it has just 2 engines.

So what did you see?

Did it have 2 engines?

a) YES ---> So it is a A310 or A330

If it was big, I suppose, its a A330. If it was smaller, it was an A310.

b) NO ---> so it's a A340

Does it look like a whale? and has blue colours?

Then its the lovely A380 Smile

So guys, don't feel offended now. I just was kidding a little bit. Enjoy the sight of this beautiful plane!

Another question:

Will A380 fly to BUD too one day?

Best Regards. Tom

A friend of mine told me that F-WWEA was doing some tests at the FIR of FTM VOR and ATC asked if they could do a low-pass over LIS. They said ok but after the tests. Cool isn'it?

Thanks for posting the video!
Did you see the wing-waiving at the end of the pass by? Was that a test or some sort of salute to the ground control?

How many A380s are there out and about at the moment - is it all 4 of the test birds?

The test were finished by the time the A380 passed over LIS, so yes, this was a salute to all the people watching, nice !

... All 4 of the test aircraft.

MSN 0007 primarily doing the pax carrying thing (as it has the 3 class layout cabin).

They have been periodically turning up at other airports unannounced, primarily due to availability constraints at TLS, Istres and their favoured runways.

They go to Pau, Carcassonne, Tarbes, and have been spotted as far afield as Ireland and now Portugal.
(guess those guys have fun!)

Almost certainly, that was a greeting to people on the ground.
