Or maybe they know that airliners.net members comprise a small fraction of the flying public and hoped no one would notice.

Cheers,

Interesting - I wonder if Mr Murdich knows that they're calling that part of their website "Skynews"?

It's possible that the test airplane will continue with flight tests while the first production airplane will actually be the first -900ER in pax service.

this was mentioned sometimes before. But indeed they will be the first 900ER operator.

But this could be a big rumour of Turkish press too Big grin

Source?

I have all the 737 allocations for the next few months and there's no Sky Airlines B739ER listed, only the new B738 which first flew yesterday.

There was an article recently that said Lion Air were due to take delivery on their first 737-900ER pretty soon iirc.

Click on the banner and read the article... it is pretty confusing. Will it be the first to serve the -900ER in Turkey or in the world... I think they want to say only in Turkey and simply with this tongue twisting they use the opportunity to catch more attention. The Boeing representative clearly says that they will be the first only in Turkey:

"Mr. Jean Thoin, the head of Middle East and Europe branches of Boeing, stated... ...He also said that, SKY AIRLINES will be the first airline company which will serve with this new generation airplanes in Turkey and Boeing will keep its confidence on SKY AIRLINES."

While the airline rep is the one exagerating the fact:

"The Chairman of Kayi Group and Sky Airlines Mr. Talha Görgülü stated that... ...He also stated that, he was proud of SKY AIRLINES being the first airline company that will serve with these new airplanes and he trusted his team."

Boeing said 'the first in Turkey' which could be rather right

Well I must confess that my original comments weren't entirely accurate. The 900s usually use the Boeing block prefix YH and there are no YHs listed in the future allocation list that I currently have, except YH003 line 2285 serial 35710 which I don't currently have an allocation against, however I personally believe that this will be Lion's 3rd, PK-LAH.

I think that the remark about them having the first 900ER meant that they will have the first 900ER in Turkey.

Here's a Boeing news release from Sept. 5th of last year.

Is it broke...? Yeah I'll fix it.
