Excellent, excellent bull's eye points made by the three of you. To everyone, please keep in mind that the originator of this thread, TWA902fly is only kid which means possibly 1) he may have made up this tale of these "lost" pilots, 2) his fellow adolescent friend may have made it up, or 3) one or both of them misunderstood the actual details, (if the incident even actually ever happened).
As for the other outlandish posts so eloquently cited by NWA Man, most of those members are in the <20 age range which means that they are less-inhibited to spew misinformed information and illogical reasoning behind their bashing of certain airlines/aircraft. (But more sadly, these types of posts are also written by older members as well --those who seemingly should know better).
As far as the 2-5-2 seating arrangement that always comes up, I too fail to understand why everyone is going around repeating the usual "the middle seat is a double excuse seat and it sucks" mantra. Fanoftristars hit it on the head when he reminded us that you simply ARE NOT FORCED TO SIT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE MIDDLE!!!!
So puh-leeeeeeeze! Stop sounding like a bunch of squawking parrots repeating that line!
Finally, as far as the favorite "www.untied.com" site that one poster referred to ("you won't believe how many complaints UA has gotten...") well, actually it is believable. The complaints are the same ones I read about at www.epinions.com about ALL the major U.S. air carriers, both in content and quantity. -Just check it out.
But no, what I actually find "hard to believe" is the numbers of so-called aviation fans at this site who run around jumping on the bandwagon of airline bashing without actually experiencing that airline more than once. Too many of them do it daily, like some sort of odd cultish phenomenon.
Now that's truly hard to accept. Especially at a site devoted for its "high level of quality and participation."
