Kingfishers F1 Advertising-Impressive

Sat Mar 31, 2007 3:05 am

Check out the new advertising technique by Kingfisher... Shows how motivated they are to get a "global" picture. I had the oppertunity to fly on their new A321 from Bom to Del last month and i must say they are right up there with their service like SQ. A definately try for those who are flying thru India in the future.

Toyota F1 has a $400 million a year budget and they have absolutely nothing to show for it.

Hopefully this won't be the case with Kingfisher.  Smile

Yup.... something has to be done.. i have a feeling that the govt. will do away with that silly rule before IT tries its US airline launch. Its just stupidity.

Are they getting some wide bodies this year? i thought they start next year.

Oh i can guarantee it... living in this country you get the real picture of VJM's plans and strategies... hes a good guy with huge ambitions and alot of money to back him up. Basically he's got alot of style and knows what the jet setting ppl want.
When IT launched their Business First Class, i personally thought they would terribly... since they are so so expensive.. but they are running with about 95% load factors in Kingfisher First.

India has tons of money to spend.. and they will spend it on Mallyas product mainly because they know he wont settle for more than the best.

He gets all my support hands down... mainly for his excellent excellent excellent beer!

They have 5 on order and this is what they have mentioned earlier..
BLR-SFO (2 A/c) and 1 spare or to be used on intra Asia regional routes
BOM/DEL - NYC (2 A/c) - this market has CO(EWR-DEL,BOM) and DL(JFK-BOM) and possibly AI will also join this fray pretty soon, how many non stops can this market support?

Instead may be IT should look at BOM-ORD (AA currently does not have A/C that can fly this route and United does not seem to be thinking about this, am I wrong to make this assumption!)

The other possible routes they can think about is BOM-LAX or DEL-LAX (not sure about market).

Lately many airlines have been advertising & sponsoring on Formula One. I think it is a good combination, especially now when Middle East countries are more open to outside world (with Qatar, Etihad and Emirates visible everywhere).

One of the best TV advertisements I have ever seen is one by Shell. OK, this is not an airline ad, but is related to aviation. It's the one with Michael Schumacher driving his Ferrari on a straight road, very fast - and then arrives an air force tanker plane and refuels the Ferrari.

Oh yes they are´! I haven't had a chance to fly IT yet, but roaming around Indian airports I've seen them... the terminal just freezes as the IT crew walks through... amazingly beautiful women! Gotta Love that! Btw, Indigo's F/As aren't that bad either!

What are they gonna do with them before they can go international? High-density domestic or?

Anyways... being a bit of a part-pooper here (sorry!) I can't help thinking that IT might not be doing the right thing in a business sense. Surely, people want sexy stewardesses, an airline that sponsors F1 and starts to have a reputation as the VS of India, great service, brand new a/c, first class on short-haul, great meals for everyone onboard... But do people want to pay for it? NO....

IT is loosing money by the truckload, and of course there is intense competition on Indian domestic now, but still - I reckon they should cut back on domestic. The IT product as it is now is - IMO - well suited for long-haul travel; ideal for an Indian VS. But not for short-haul, except maybe BOM/DEL/BLR flights. Remember, VS sticks to long-haul for a good reason. IT should do the same (when they can), and launch a separate, less luxurious product for domestic (still with hot F/As though!). Just my 2 cents-..!

Talking about Indigo.... I went clubbing with a f/o and the whole crew of 4 drop dead gorgeous f/a's!!! Wont disclose more, but it was in BOM.

There was alot of oppertunity that day... strange.. that the age old captain/f-o and f/a fling really does happen in reality!

And boy did i get special treatment on my way back (I mean service wise in the air  Wink )

Kevin:

I feel that IT will concentrate more on the intl sectors once they are given clearence to fly those. Right now, god knows what their strategy is, they HAVE to fly domestic for 5 years under the current laws, so they really dont have much of an option.

Talking about people wanting to pay the money for first, there are lots of people who will pay for first, just recently, there was a study how there are about 2 million people in india earning 100,000 $ a year and above. That may not be alot according to american standards, but converted into Rupees, that 40,00,000 rs. which is a serious amount of money. IT is aiming for that Niche or really rich people and business men/women. To give you and example, my parents (who are very well off) would ONLY fly either 9W business or IT first. IT has suffered momentarily because of competition from 9W who has more flights to more destinations.

If i am not mistaken, IT has their first only on their 321's which are deployed only on the major sectors (del-bom, del-ccu, etc) and the rest for theit 320, ATR fleet are all economy.

If i may say so, such a product, IMHO, will do very well, because people in India are getting richer by the day, they are feeling the hunger to spend money an demand superior products. There are lots of people out there who want to travel luxuriously (except me, i fly Spicejet and Indigo... they are so dirt cheap). I would say we are somewhat what the states was like back in the late sixties and early seventies. We are on the brink of an explosion which will just resulyt in people getting richer and working harder to get better results and inturn, a higher per capita income.

All i can say is that even though this is a bit off topic, i am lucky to be in the country i am at the right time, i feel there is no better place at the moment than India for any field.

I know, and the 5-year rule is silly - yet flying ATRs does signal that they intend to stay in the smaller domestic markets as well, after the five years have passed.

In my world 100 K is a lot, too! But problem is, that fuel and a/c go by Western prices, and as you say, 100 K a year isn't much in the US if you're flying F or J - and, in real terms, it isn't in India, too - it simply can't be, when costs are so similar in aviation. An F ticket on IT, say BOMCCU sets you back, what, 15-20.000 Rupees. Even if you earn USD 100 K a year, that's still a lot.

Momentarily.... hmmm... doubt it, I think it could continue for a long time. With IC really imrpving their service now with new AC, PTVs etc., there'll be three top-domestics in India... too much I reckon

But people like you are the problem!!!  Smile (no offence, I'm like you too!!). Even if poeple can afford to fly J or F, people are cheap very often! Y ou have many executives in Europe who fly EasyJet domestic in Europe, and J on Intercon. I think Indians in general are no different - who needs a good free meal on a 45 min flight MAA BLR?? But on international: IT could so be a winner!

Is there a market for IT to use their A345 from DEL/BOM to IAD? I think a non-stop from this hub in the US might prove profitable to any Indian carrier, for that matter, but i guess whoever goes first..be it 9W, AI or even UA (not an Indian carrier) might be earning some $$$ for the routing. Any thoughts or ideas??  Smile

And yes, i would definitely fly IT domestic next time im in India, just to look see how pretty t hese FA's really are...oh I am sure my wife would hate me for it..hehehehe!!  Smile

Not true, IT First are on all 321's and 320's (except one) and none on 319s or ATRs. IT First is featured on most of all flights out of BOM/DEL.

A321's are primarily used on DEL/BLR/BOM and some extensions like AMD/GOI/SXR.

Why use them on SXR?? Is it me or is that just weird?? It's a PSO route, right? No need to put in you largest AC with J class..
