XJet Getting Things Set Up At MSY

Sat Mar 31, 2007 2:36 pm

First off, I had the chance to meet the XJet city manager down here a few days ago, and he's one heck of a nice guy. He seems very enthusiastic about the airline.

XE crews were here yesterday getting their ticket counter set up. As some of you know, they occupy half of the old Taca counter space. They will have three check in positions. The sign behind the counter is HUGE. Silver background with large "EXPRESSJET" titles. It's basically triple the size of the Air Tran sign at the Air Tran counter. It looks very sharp, in my opinion.

Also, work is nearly complete on XE's offices. They'll be using two old TA offices and one old F9 office. Also, they'll be getting a ramp ops office under gate B11. They are going to use gate C15 for their flights, but there were no more available offices to use under C...AA and UA have all of the office space under the terminal gobbled up; but, C15 to B11 is a very short tug ride away, so it shouldn't be too much of a hassle...hopefully. No one has used the B11 ops office since CO was on that end of B, so renovations are underway.

Overall, I think XE can do very well here. They have been running newspaper and radio ads, and they have a billboard along the airport access road which you can't miss if you're coming in from the city off of I-10.

Nice. Any chance you could grab some photos of the action down there?

I believe I can. I just met the XE Supervisors here today and they are really nice. I'll be looking forward to working just down the hall from them. You know pictures will be forthcoming.

Regarding Pics:

if you go to this thread:
Xjet Update After 4 Days In The Air (by XJET Apr 6 2007 in Civil Aviation) and look at reply 9

there are a couple pics, especially of the sharp sign. It isn't at MSY I don't think, but it will probably look about the same

They put that exact same sign up here a few days ago. It is catching a lot of looks, let me tell you. Very nicely done in my opinion.
