Qatar Airways A330 Anticolision Lights

Sat Mar 31, 2007 4:57 pm

Hi All,

Iam working at Delhi International Airport. I have observed that many of Qatar Airways Airbus 330-200s Operating DOH-DEL-DOH have twin Anticollision lights on the Fuselage (not under the belly). Some have only one.

Can somebody throw some light on this please??????

Rgds

Many airplanes have twin upper (and sometimes lower) anticollision lights. The B-52 has two upper and one lower, the L-1011 has two on the upper and lower. It has to do with improved visability of the lights. The positioned are engineered, you just cannot stick them anywhere.

VTJAL...I think the point your making is that only Qatar has opted for this configuration as I have not found it on other airlines similar Airbus equipment. Mentioning an L-1011 is irrelevant as all L-1011's had dual roof and belly lighting. The question is why Qatar is the only airline with this layout.
