DL's DXB-ATL: Weight Restrictions?

Just wondering, is there any possibility that DL's new DXB-ATL flight will have weight restrictions? I hear DXB can be extremely hot in the summer.
The proper term is "on final" not "on finals" bud...

extremly hot is an understatement!!!!! when i was there in august on the ramp, it must have been about 130!!  Smile

It absolutely must.. as MH's DXB-EWR does (did?) and EK never desired to fly the route before receiving 345s.

Well the flight departs DXB at 10:45 pm so that should help....
Experience is what you get when what you thought would work out didn't!

In the Middle East during the summer temperatures don't tend to drop much from what they were during the day. For example when I was in Morocco two summers ago it was 112 during the day and 102 at night.

the flight is still about 1 hr shorter than BOMJFK and that flight operates at the full MTOW of the aircraft. DXB has very long runways and DL's 777s have 95K engines. I can't say it won't but DL has done everything it can to minimize the possibility.

MH's DXB EWR was in the middle of the night, around 2am, and still took weight restrictions.

Worst comes to worst, DL can move some of their 772LRs to the route once they enter the fleet.

DL has been pretty ambitious in reducing the weight of their in-service 777-232ERs, even going so far as to reduce the amount of beverages stocked on ultra-long-hauls to squeeze every drop of range out of those puppies. While I'm sure they will take some weight restriction on either end, I don't believe the penalties will be extraordinary.

On a similar note, DL's new 76C (reconfigured 767-432ER) have all overhead LCD monitors removed throughout the cabin to save weight, requiring flight attendants to do a manual demo. Can't remember the last time I saw a manual safety demo on a widebody under normal operations...not saying it will be very interesting, but sort of strange!

They can't show it on the PTVs?

The PTVs in the BusinessElite cabin as well as row 30(?) in Y stow in the armrest and are not visible during taxi, takeoff, and landing, thus requiring a manual demo.

First, that 10 degree F drop is significant from a performance standpoint. However, at 102F, the airframe/engine will be weight restricted.

Question: Does anyone know what seats DL selected for their 777's? The carbon-fiber seats can save 10lbm per seat and that can be significant.

I'm hearing about more and more non-EK flights to DXB. Does this flight interact with EK (code sharing)?

Nope, EK doesn't tend to do much code-sharing, apart from with CO from LGW to North America and a few others.

Yes, duty free carts have also been removed from the 772ERs to BOM as well as most carts from the mid-Y galleys. The refurbished 772ERs have also had the overhead and front monitors/screens removed (since each seat has a PTV), thus helping to further reduce weight.

As mentioned above, same case with the refurbished DL 772ERs. UA also does 'live' safety demos on their 777s as the overhead and front monitors have all been removed as well.

Could they not try to do it like BA - in ClubWorld, the FAs go through and pull everyone's PTVs out for the demo and then walk through the cabin again to make sure everything is stowed before takeoff......
