Lufthansa Interview Questions

Tue Apr 03, 2007 5:40 am

Schoenen Tag!

I am in the middle of the application process to become a flight attendant with Lufthansa (Model C). I was sent an email asking me to call to Germany for a 15-minute telephone interview. I am slighty nervous, as most of the interview will be in German. I have studied German during four years of high school and two years of university - but have never actually been to Germany and rarely get to practice conversing with others in German (thought i read in German regularly.)

I am wondering if anyone with experience here could tell me what type of questions to expect, so that I may at least try to prepare and brush up on the right skills.

Any help offered would be tremendously appreciated! I want this job so bad! Vielen Dank!

MfG

Expect Questions like
Why become a flight attendant?
Why not in the US why Germany?
There is a german forum called Crewlounge.de or com or net!
You'll find it
Usually the most difficult part in this call is the english part! So be prepared to Answer questions like
How was your last vacation? Where did you fly to? These are standard questions for germans to be asked in English!
Learn some details about LH! Star Alliance partners, destinations etc.

Hope could provide little help

Hi,

When learning a foreign language, and don't get to use as much as you like, the best thing you could do for yourself is read in that language. So, hopefully you should have no problems with the German. As for the questions, I have no clue. Good luck with your interview and let us know how it went.

Cheers,
Imad

I passed this intervies last summer. Here are some points/questions:

- always show a service oriented behaviour (nice, friendly, sociable)
- show a cosmopolitan attitude
- try to be calm, the interviewers make some notes during the conversation, be aplomb
- very famous questions are:
"what are your positiv and negative skills?"
"what is 'service' in your eyes?"
"how does your personality looks like - give some examples?"
"why Lufthansa and not United?"
"have you ever been aboard for a long time?"

good luck!!!

Just two ideas (hope they are helpful)

1. Don't have fear! They won't expect you to speak German perfectly because hardly any foreigner does.

2. Reading German is alright but maybe not sufficient. Try to listen to some native German speakers via TV or the internet.

Best wishes!
The fundamental things apply as time goes by

The question about one's weaknesses is the most dumb question of all. I don't ask them anymore when I have people here applying for an internship. I want people to employ their strengths and skills. Reality will teach them to work on their weaknesses anyway. 90% of the people answer with "Oh, At times I can be inpatient" or something equally uncontroversial. I can't hear it anymore ... I once had a serious argument with an HR guy about that question ...

that's great that you don't ask this anymore, but this is a very common question and 2 of 3 applicants are still asked that!
