Its quite nice at the rear.... but the titles are way too small and it just doesn't look right. Not active enough, too staid

Is that the original design for the new livery, I thought the titles were much bigger taking up most of the front of the fuselage.

I like it, although I think it won't be around for long. Once the LT brand will have suffered a fate similar to that of DI ... my two cents.

Who knows, how long LTU will still exist after it was bought by Air Berlin a few days ago? Seems like that the new owner is more interested in the DUS slots than anything else. Currently they´re finishing DBA, I hope they let LTU live on.

I won´t change what I said about this livery when the concept showed up a few weeks ago. The old one was better though it needed an update. The tail design is better than before. In general its not special enough and reminds me a bit of Qantas, though QFs livery is better, more lively due to the kangeroo.

That was what I was expecting before I opened the photo to be honest. The LTU to be spread across the tail, I could have thought of that Big grin

Looks alright, I agree with OceansWorld, I does remind me of that TUI livery.

Honestly, what is that supposed to be? They should have opted for a way more creative livery and designer. Simply boring and even more worse than their old scheme in my humble opinion. It would be a great improvement to paint the engine nacelle's in this red colour and to get rid of this .com titles.

SmartWings, Indigo? snd a million others?

Needs bigger letters or something more creative in the front... it's like something is missing.

Also, get rid of the AWFUL!!.com. That'd be an improvement but I'm sure they're too happy to display their tacky web address there. The rear half looks nice!. But overall since the .com cheesiness and the front is so plain, I'd go with the old colors.

6 out of 10.

I don't know what's more sad - someone who thought that was an attractive an eye-catching design, or the fact that serious $$$$ was paid for someone to fall asleep at the design studio and rush this through with just seconds left to go.

I mean at least with Euro-white, there's an original design to the tail. This is just pathetic.

What's the difference in budget to paint the same aircraft in a somewhat more creative livery???
Is it simple to double - they have reached the peak of boredom with this livery and the marketing guys should be fired right away.
There is such a thing as brand-awreness -....why is it that all German airlines have such a sh... paint ?
I love Frontier and the animals on the stabilizer- or some of the last AUA planes had some great paint-schemes..
( The latest A340 with paintings for the philharmonic orchestra was stunning..)
We most likely will see them repainted soon into the dark-red Air Berlin "Einheits-Logo" anyhow !

Igitt! Ugly! Boring!

What are those people thinking? The old LTU livery was great, was a classic, but this looks like all the other boring liveries out there. I can't believe it. The A340 will look very silly in that livery, I would have been a great sight in the old livery. What is the purpose of this?

LTU originally was a short-cut for "Luft Transport Union" (= "Air Transport Union"). Just in case you thought the "U" stood for "Unternehmen". Hairsplitting though, but the direct, literal translation of "Unternehmen" is "enterprise".

in Air Berlin colours, question is will the A330's....
wonder if Air Berlin had any say in the colours? If not maybe it will be short lived...

It's not that bad, but that awful ".com" is annoying. I mean come on, it's an airline, not an internet service provider. I think most people in this world are able to try and get an airlines website address through google or something. But then again, I could be wrong ....  Silly

Anyway, LT tried a livery change back in 2001 and didn't go over very well, so I'm sure if there is enough public out cry (as there was last time) this could very well be the only LT aircraft with this livery.

However, one also has to think that this "re-branding" came only weeks before the official announcement that AB will be taking over LT. So I wonder if this livery change has anything to do with that?

I wish there were more red, the titles up front were larger, and there were a nice charcoal grey line between the red and the white. Then it'd be halfway decent.

ZZzzzzz.... Dull! As wacky and exciting as TUI-Not!
TUI will take over Europe and the world anyway (rings a bell)
The future will it be Yellow? , Orange? , it will be dull anyway at this rate!

I am bored now with .COM on everything. If you see Fred Bloggs Air on the side of a plane and you think I'll fly with them next etc. Most people in the world who switch on a computer can use a search engine.
Jet or Fly used everywhere is also very boring.

You Johnny foreigners sucking up and putting everything on your aircraft in English. Sod the English-speaking world. I want planes with things on them I can't understand. Where is your national pride?

Who's with me and would like to see a new airline with it's full name on the side of the aircraft, a name for each aircraft, a cheatline, flag, what about a small coat of arms, aircraft type, it is also nice when you can see a maker logo on the engine.
This could be the new (but old) way airlines will go?

Nice colours on this baby for example:

Aviation will always be the most exciting form of transport. I am surprised that the marketing men don't jump on this more than they do, as planes are great canvases and billboards for art or advertising. Us plane anorak's like nice colours on aircraft. Most of the public really don't give a toss!

Ah that's made me feel better! and LTU is still dull.

Is it really that hard to ' think outside the box ' and actually come up with a fresh, new, original livery for an airline today? Maybe if the red on the underside of the aircraft was larger, and covered more of the fuselage (to reduce the hideous Euro-White) and the "LTU" on the tail was more stylised... it would probably be more palatable... but this is bland beyond belief.

IMO the only decent colourschemes from German carriers are those from LH (simple, but effective), X3 (they pretty much advertise themselves as flying Taxis and their colourscheme reflects that, as long as it is around at least), LT's old colours (all the red, combined with the fat white cheatline, it was simply timeless) and AB (just stylish).

Like the tail, but the eurowhite everywhere else is just a let down. What is it with eurowhite? And it also means the plane looks dirty, faster. LTU needs more red, lots of glorious red. Just like Air Canada went Eurowhite. They, too, need more red.

Is there a shortage of red paint in the world, or is white paint on sale?

This is true. Bright colors fade, white does not. But lots of airlines have red, AV comes to mind, and I don't know if they need to repaint any more often than any other airline.

Like the others have said, I like the tail logo but the rest of the new livery is too plain. It would be better if the "LTU" titles would have been in much bigger font on the fuselage just to make the livery "fuller" instead of the plain white fuselage with small LTU.com titles. But like I said, the tail logo is a very nice improvement in my opinion.

Correct me if I'm wrong but that was a fugly test "scheme" which AtlasJet (turkey) then copied 3 or 4 years later. The latter's titles are different but it's still the same Don't-Look-At-Me-I'm-Just-Plain-Ugly colorscheme and on the A320 looks even worse! Yep, that one is totally screaming with creativity lol

Hope that too but it's unlikely that Air Berlin and LTU continue under their own brands in the future. It would be better to create one new and strong brand, the only way to survive next to their domestic competitors aslike Lufthansa and TUI. For Air France KLM it's a different thing. Merging those brandnames is a tougher path to go...

LTU will remain legally its own entity as long as bilateral issues regarding flight frequencies and landing rights have not been solved and until the majority of LTU'S passengers has learned about the new ownership and brand. Expect to see LTU disappear at least from the public view (it might remain a legal entity) within two years or so.
