Right now it's scheduled for late August (I heard August 27th) provinding there are no problems or issues during asembly and pre-flight testing.

There are pictures of the fuselage barrels, wing skins, nose section, and other components. But the wing/body joints won't take place for several more weeks. Some really interesting pictures will be available in short order...

Bah, Tuesday the 28th? Crap, I was hoping for Wednesday. Otherwise I'm going to be in Seattle from Monday - Monday (labor day, 8 days). And I'll have nothing to do from Wed-Friday morning, other than go rent camping gear for the DMB concert at the Gorge.

Just make sure that when you're here you say; "I'm going to see Dave". You don't want to sound like a tourist.  Wink

That said, I'll be at the first flight...hopefully somewhere on-field if certain Boeing employees in the family can work it out!

Pretty clever of Boeing, roll it out on 07/08/07, delete zeroes you have 7/8/7.

And if they run into problems with the assembly , they might postpone it to 7 Aug 07, as the 07/08/07 thing then make sense for the rest of the world and most of their customers  stirthepot   duck

We write it like we say it and spell it out:

What would be really good is Rollout on July 8th and first flight 7th August. That way all parts of the world get a 7/8/7 first!

If they start testing on a 24 hr schedule, Could that be possible? Hell, for all we know, the first 787 is already complete, just locked away under guard like it was the new toy for Groom until the pre-arranged publicity date .

do you think Boeing will bring the 787 to Hong Kong for the Asian Aerospace show in early September to please some of their 60 odd Chinese clients?

I was hoping i could see the 787 there like i saw the A380 at the Asian Aerospace Show in Singapore in Feb. 2006

Doubtful... it will have been in flight test less than a month at that time. A fair amount of flight envelope testing has to happen before you go very far cross-country much less across the big pond.
