Yes, it is good and will become more. during this year 20 new aircrafts are near to come. Most of them A320 to replace F100 so more sets to be offered. On itl. FRA, LAX and CCS is ahead. Also a service GIG/MIA/GIG scheduled for DEC07.
Thinks it is in the correct path.

My hat off to TAM! TAM has done a great job for many years now and I always admired the airline for the fact that they have been conservative when it comes to their future plans while a lot of others have been rushing into more destinations just to a few years later end up in trouble. This has been the fact with most of our American carriers. Great job TAM !

I'm very happy with this GIG-MIA service! TAM is really focused to improve their international network, and GIG become a real alternative (as well as it's a good market) for the over crowded São Paulo International Airport.

Lets see what they will do with the planes during the day!

And as JJMNGR pointed out very well, we could expect more as they are trying to create new routes where demand is really strong. TAM figures are really amazing !

Now you will have a very good option to reach CNF... more connecting flights thru GIG !!! I wish one day TAM runs a CNF-GIG-MIA night flight. Should be a very good option !

JJ has the following operations to MIA:

GRU - MIA => twice a day, A330
FOR - BEL - MAO - MIA => daily, A320

And are planning to start GIG - MIA

I was wondering if there isn't room for:

GRU - MIA => twice a day, A330
GIG - MIA => daily, A330/MD-11

and here comes my idea

BSB - MAO - MIA => daily, A320
SSA - REC/FOR/BEL - MIA => daily, A320

That is, a new daily service always starting in SSA and having stops in different cities during the week. But my only question is, can the A320 reaches MIA from REC, FOR or BEL?

Regards,
Claudio

Claudio, there are some rumors about GIG-MIA daily service will be run with 2 A332 and as that, they could run some day light services GIG-SSA/REC/FOR-MIA.

BSB in fact keep a flight that allows immediate connection to JJ MAO-MIA current service. I don't know the range of the A321, but it could be used for more services to MIA also, but at this time, i believe they will focus on launch & consolidate their future Rio-Miami service.

True, JJ has placed an order for some A321, right? Do you know when will they start receiving them?

Lipe,
A CNF/GIG/MIA would be great especially for me but what do you thinks the odds for a flight like that would be.
My son actually will be flying JJ Friday morning back from CNF to GRU and then on JJ8094 to MIA.
Hope that you have a good time in N.Y.C.

EMB195ER,

Not yet...my particular opinion is that should replace A320 on JJ8074/75....but as CCS is ahead another possibility is to operate GRU/CCS/GRU. Also there are very good high demand domestic routes. But all this still speculation of mine. It is not defined yet. As soon as I have the correct information I will adv for sure.

Regarding the A321, another question came to my mind.

Why ordering only 2 aircrafts? For the number of routes and the size of the JJ fleet, 2 airplanes don't mean anything. I mean, they are insuficient. Was that maybe an experience with the new model (new model in the fleet, not at Airbus)?

Does anyone know if the 321 fits the jetbridge gates at CGH?

I think it does, since the only important measurement difference between the A320 and the A321 is the length.

I have the same feeling, that they will make an experience with the A321. They have the option to convert some additional A320 into A321 in the future.

Yes, it fits. Funny that in CGH two Boeing 737-800 with winglets are not able to park side by side.

Since all 737NG have the same wingspan, I guess that applies to all of them... Lipe, do they fit without winglets?

Wingspans:

A320 family: 34,09m
737NG family: 34,3m
737NG family with winglets: 35,8m

Does this also count for the recently newly build ones or only for the old gates?

I am sure this was lobbying of TAM to ensure 50% of the gates  Wink

The A321s can't make it to Miami. The A320s can reach Miami from Manaus and Belem, the A319s can reach it from Brasilia. Personally, I would like to see this schedule to Miami. A little bit of a "wish list", but somewhat plausable in the long-run:

Redeye:
MIA-GRU, 330: 7x
MIA-GIG, 330: 7x

Daylight:
MIA-GRU, 330: 7x
MIA-FOR-GIG, 330: 2x
MIA-REC-GIG, 330: 2x
MIA-SSA-GIG, 330: 2x
MIA-NAT-GIG, 330: 1x

Narrowbody:
MIA-BSB, 319: 7x
MIA-MAO-BEL, 320: 7x

Totally plausable in 2-3 years.

Wow!! Really an amazing growth!! Good for JJ, all their staff deserve it!!! And with all respect... where is RG, or better yet, WHO is RG now??? I remember back in 2003 where JJMNGR adviced all of us about this numbers and where JJ was truly heading and everything he said was correct and i trusted him several don't, things where then very clear... and he was also bashed hundred times for being so rude against RG but it was nothing than the truth. JJ is an example as well as LA, AV Group, CM, TA, MX, IJ, Y4 and Viva of good leadership and the right way to play a los avioncitos!!! Their numbers speak for themselves.... so good to read this news.. so bad its not that often from all countries in Latam. Kudos JJ!!!

And in the future, i believe they could begin tags from the South. A flight POA-BSB-MIA with A319 is also feasible.
