Calling Everybody In The YYZ Area

Sat Apr 07, 2007 4:24 am

I was just thinking today that anybody that lives in the YYZ area we should all meet and fly somewhere now everbody agreeing on a certain date, flight, airline and destination will be hard but I think that if the majority agree on a date airline destination then it will be a great sucess so post your preffered date flight airline and destination and get ready to have a great time.

i think you are barking up an impossible tree...

Short of a "last flight" type even (like the last 744 from YUL), i don't think you'll get people lining up to buzz to YOW on Westjet. I mean what "great time" are you theorizing anyways?

I mean just look at the patchwork of flights people trying to get on the 77W are having...

It doesn't have to be YOW or even WS I just thought it would be a good idea to get together to fly somewhere just for the fun of flying

your missing the point it's not to go to toronto and spot it's to actually fly something that the YYZ meet doesn't do so i was hoping that we could settle on a destination airline and date so we could all be on the same plane and just have some good fun

I'll star this topic to see if anything comes up, not sure about my schedule yet. Any news on the next YYZ meet?

I think you'll have to wait for a ridiculous fare to come up in order to get a group of us to book a flight. For example, back in the Jetsgo days they had $1 fares from time to time. On Father's Day, I ended up flying to YWG and back for $1 plus tax. As those days are over, I think you will have a hard time convincing a group of us to shell out a few hundred bucks to go somewhere and back with a group of a.netters. Your best bet for ridiculous fares might be Porter, but I haven't been following their prices for a while.

Wouldn't that have been $2 + tax? ($1 each way)

To be frank, if I recall correctly it was actually free. You flew to YVR that same day, do you remember the price?

You are absolutely correct. I paid $91.53 roundtrip for YYZ-YVR-YYZ on 16 June 2002 with $0 in base fare. CPDC10-30 also flew that flight with me.

Toronto is the centre of the universe, therefore we can count BC as part of the catchment area!

Considering how far afield people come from to attend the YYZ meets, I think BC is definitely part of the YYZ area.

What a 13-15 year old kid thinks is fun is not necessarily fun for the more mature among us. Unless you you're paying for it of course.  Smile

With all due respect.. you're NOT going to find anyone who's going to bite on this one.

My hard earned dollar isn't going to be spent to jet all around the country just to meet up with A.net people. I'd have to have a pretty good reason to do so, and I think that the majority of other people here are going to feel the same way.

It's a great idea if you're 15-16 years old, and mom and dad will gladly jet you all around the planet, but for people who are living paycheque to paycheque (which most people do) you'll find it very difficult to get anyone to bite on this one.

I think it is a nice idea not considering the money part. Also, we should remember how many non-yyz anetters have spent their money to come for the YYZ meets from US and Europe. My hats off to them.
Also, Happy Easter to all.  Smile

Why don't we all meet in a hotel near the airport to have a few drinks instead? I think we can accomplish much more that way than sit in a plane for an hour.

Umm... a fair number of YYZ meet regulars are not exactly welcome at all establishments near the airport for various reasons.  Wink

That said, the "Landing Strip" was never too fussed about the clientele they serve - and the beer is a lot cheaper than Arizonas.

Well that would exclude the original poster, as he's only 13-15. LOL

I know you quoted someone else, but I'm going to reply on behalf of all the other adults on the site -- I cannot fathom spending money to fly somewhere for a few hours unless there was some reason why I was going, other than just to fly somewhere.. GIVEN the costs of flying ANYWHERE.

Nice idea, in a world where money would be free.
