Today Is 747 Day!

Sat Apr 07, 2007 4:49 pm

Yes today is 07/04/07 if you wirte the date the european way !
Its therefore the oppurtunity to make a little tribute to the queen of the skies

I could make a whole tribute thread like Wings does but I will not start to copy his great threads. Thus I will just post a pic of each type of 747 that has been released .
(p.s I wanted to start a 737 thread but it was pretty displaced given the fact the same day the Garuda 737 had crashed)

Wingtips look odd on 747-8. Probably like the Shark tail on 787 just something that makes it look advanced but is later removed from the design

Well, we'll get lots of Boeing models' days this year. And we already missed some (717, 727 and 737), although we can catch up and use US date standard in July  Smile

Too bad the 748 doesn't have wingtips...loos more like a 747-300 and not as sexy as the 744!

Its funny how the dream livery makes A/c look much nicer and aerodynamical. A good move for Boeing to make their porduct more attractive to cusomers (if for eample you compare to Airbus livery). However with the LH livery this a/c doesn't look anywhere as sexy

I do the calender thing the US way, but I'll celebrate anyway. I hope after NW exits bankruptcy they will order the 748 and 748F. It would be cool to see NW order the 773ER, but I am hoping they will order the 748. Hopefully Boeing will launch the 749. Imagine what it would look like!  hyper

Hmm...Maybe we should Celebrate this in July...as it is an American Company. Write the date out of American Style...

and starting from the first to the 8th of the month...We'll celebrate, 717 day....727 day....737 day...747 day...757 day....767 day....777 day...and then ending the celebration of Boeing Week....will be the Unveiling of the 787 on 7/8/07 with 787 day!

How about it everyone.
Lets Celebrate Boeing Week!

Not to be a nit-picker or anything, but the second picture of a "747-200C" you posted is actually a 747-400F, which wasn't mentioned in the thread starter. Then there's also the:

You only get Airbus week using the American dating system (except for 03/10, October 3 for A310), but you get Boeing week using both systems (every 100 years though).

Nice tribute to a great airliner.

We have missed 737 back in March but we have 757,767 and the best of them all 777 to come!  bigthumbsup . We will also have the first flight of the 787 in the 8th month as well if all goes to plan.

It only has to be 100 if you just use the last 2 digits. "07" repeats every 100 years.

707 doesn't get a day - it gets the whole month (7/07) and I think it works in both dating systems.
