Cost Of Inflight Movies To Airlines

Sun Apr 08, 2007 8:43 am

I figured someone on here would know the answer to this question. I recently was on a UA ORD-NRT flight (777...great of the best flights I have ever been on) and was in Econ+. I watched four movies on the flight and it got me thinking: how much do airliners have to pay for the rights to pay movies.

I was thinking about the fact that it might be something like $1 per person, per movie. But then I started to do the math and realized that on an ORD-NRT flight, that could be close to $1200 or more. So anyone in the biz, do you know how this works?
