What An Odd Place For A Korean 747!

Sun Apr 08, 2007 11:54 am

Ah, the fun you can have with Google Maps! Looks like a Korean Air 747 is visiting the Great Western Forum in LA!  Smile

"Officer! Of course I'm taking up all lanes. Can't you see I'm driving a 747?!!"  Big grin

It looks better on Google Earth where you can spin the shot around so that you are looking from the north. What really looks funky on Google Earth, though, is tilting it so you are looking at an angle. You are expecting the aircraft to rise about the terrain... but it stays flat on the ground like a decal.  crazy

I couldn't see the 747's shadow (neither on Google Maps nor in Google Earth). Did anyone else find the plane's shadow?

In case anyone's interested, the 747 looks to be 3.1 nautical miles (3.57 statue miles/5.75 km) from touchdown on 24L at LAX (thanks to Google Earth's Ruler feature).

Thanks! Perhaps I should get my vision checked....  melting

or I could use the excuse that the 747's shadow was camouflaged in that park.... Big grin

I just looked at the angle and length of the parking lot light pole shadows and extended in that direction. Not hard.  Smile
