Surprised!: Pic Of UK International's 1st B762!

Sun Apr 08, 2007 11:27 pm

Hi all,

Well I have to admit I nearly fell off my seat when I saw this (I've always been convinced that UK International would turn out to be a virtual airline). However it looks like (despite the hideous attempt at a website) it is actually real and the 1st ex United B767-200 has been painted into UKIA purple!

http://www.ukinternationalairlines.com/1.html

It's not the best photo and doesn't give much away but it certainly looks genuine to me.
Also below is a link to the CAA, showing details of their second G registared aircraft.

http://www.caa.co.uk/application.asp...detailnosummary&fullregmark=G-CEMK

Just please work on the website- even I could have done better!  Smile

Certainly does look like a cheap website alright. Has the same feel as the 'Visionair' one set up last year in Ireland (as in , hard to believe it's for real). The only difference being that this airline looks like it may actually happen.
I wonder about Sharjah as a destination. Isn't it mainly a cargo airport ? How would a route from the East Midlands work, do you think ?
Anyway, best of luck to them. It's actually not a bad name for an airline. The colour scheme will take a bt of getting used to, though !

I wonder how far she will travel. Wasn't UA's 762 converted to ER standards?

That livery is going to be easy to spot. Will this be a full service airline or LCC. They have no information on their site at all, it all says "under construction".

Either they need a fuel stop, or are counting on picking up additional VFR traffic from Pakistanis working in the Gulf and returning home. Either way, if the website is anything to go by, a HIGHLY dodgy looking outfit. Certainly no obvious means to book or indeed any schedules. One 767-200 doth not a summer make !

This still looks dodgy !! All the info on their website is ''under construction''. Also any website that has a cheap ''ticker'' is very suspect. They need a make over and they havnt got off the ground. EMA-KHI for 99p anyone???

I presume the interior will be in UA outift.

Website is a pile of shite, Looks improfessional, and the grammar is appalling. Shame, because the market is really there. Hopefully they will expand to LBA ,a market which would be even better than EMA. To be honest though, the people using the flights haven't always been masterful of English either, so it shouldn't be a problem

If I don't remember badly, there were a Swedish airline called SweFly that used to fly from Stockholm Bromma to Karachi and Islamabad with great connections from UK...

And was a disaster. Poor loads, bad maintenance, great delays and a plane with a curse...

The Boeing 767-200 used was destined to Bravo Airlines in Spain and we still are awaiting the start of flights to Kinshasa and other African destinations.

Are there enough demand to these two cities thinking that PK has new planes and great prices?

I know a lot of psychology goes into the colours an airline chooses for it's livery.....but I wonder was much thought put into THIS one. I'm not sure what to call the colour used in this scheme (kind of purple/pink).
What message are they trying to get across ?
Can't think of too many other 'Pink' airlines.
It's not a colour that really inspires confidence.
Mind you, you'll be able to see them at night with the lights off Big grin

That is quite easily one of the worst airline websites I have ever seen, if not the worst. I'm guessing based on their UK->Pakistan route that this airline is relying on viral marketing through the Pakistani community to get the ball rolling, a risky approach. In this day and age every international carrier needs a better web presence than that.

As for the vomit inducing purple livery... well at least it's memorable. I'm guessing the same jokers who designed the website came up with the livery. That purple seems to be one of the stock purples that come in the default palette in MS paint.

If they were based in Pakistan, their website would be considered marginal but would get a passing grade for a "developing" country. For a UK-based business to produce such a site, however, you must strongly question the intelligence and motives of everyone involved in the company, regardless of what safety certifications the authorities grant them.

if they'd kept it people might have confused it with German Telecom.

The "boring" swiss looks professional. The pink version looks like a cheap charter carrier.

Pink and gold are poor man's colors. You should use them sparingly not paint entire surface with them. You use them to emphasize, like underline a word. If you use too much of it, it immediately looks cheap. Imagine a complete golden aircraft. Like that soap opera "Dallas" with golden rooms.

Looks like I may be taking some photos of these at EMA this year then!

Personally I don't think it looks that bad, at least the purple is distinctive. I'm not too sure where they are going to keep their aircraft though, surely it would cost quite a bit to keep them standing at East Midlands.

I've seen the summer timetables for the Airport and there is no mention of them... Hopefully something will become of it though.

As for the website, it's probably someone within the companies effort, maybe they should get a proper webdesigner on the case.

The livery looks positive though.
Make sure they know we're playing the game, but we don't need to play the game because we've already won the game.

Either that, or it could be a passenger taking the emergency landing position. Or a symbol for cramped seating and poor leg space. Anyway, while I like the colours, the logo was obviously created by someone who does not fly very often.

Actually, I believe it was from NYO (Stockholm Skavsta) to LBA in the UK, then onto Pakistan, (or vice versa). Wasn't there talks of SweFly operating into BKK as well at one stage? Their sole 762ER (SE-RBV/24150) is now at Bravo, IIRC.

As an EMA regular I really should know this, but when is the first aircraft arriving at EMA? I will go and get some pics but I might take a sick bag because thats one nasty livery by the looks of it!  crazy

The website is shocking. There are not too many virtual airlines with websites that bad!

I was also incredibly surprised when I saw that there is indeed an aircraft, I thought this would be yet another of those that goes no-where.

Agree the website is awful. Perhaps they have a new one ready to launch, or maybe it will stay that way?! At a guess, I would say they are not planning to sell tickets via the website. This is not unusual for airlines operating to India/Pakistan from the UK. These are aimed at British Pakistanis who most often live in very close communities where many people know each other through families and religion. The flights will probably be cointracted out to a travel agent(s) in these communities and flights marketed that way. This has been done may times before, Air Slovakia, Slovak, Flyjet have all operated this way from BHX, and there have been similar services from EMA with I think Flyjet and Monarch. Once this is then succesful they may look into getting the relevant scheduled licenses and selling direct.

The only question I have, is the CAA show the aircraft registered to UKIA, but I can't find UKIA on the list of AOC holders. Do they have an AOC or are they part way through the application process? Or are they piggy-backing on someone elses?

Maybe but totally lack of imagination and innovation. True the Swiss public rejected the pink Helvetic livery and wanted to have a more recognizable livery. The BA world tail fins were also rejected by the public. Airlines should know what their consumers want. Maybe its why Delta is deleting their confusing Deltaflot-tailfins now.

Would be better if they connect Punjab, India with EMA with the amount of punjabi in Leicester and derby. Turkemistan, Uzbekistan, Air India and Air Slovakia operate BHX-ATQ and loads are good. a 767 is quite alot of space to fill maybe a 757 would be better to start
Next destinations, Suarabaya, beirut, paris, Accra

GREAT color! for an aircraft! Wish there were more magenta purple lilac pink airline schemes.

I'd love to see this at my local airport instead of some ugly charter airline c/s such as X'L.com or something like this.

This aircraft will stand out for sure, for the eye at least, but I wonder how long this airline will last. To start with very old (23 years!) and almost worn-out high-cycle 767-200s isn´t too promising. I thought only third-world airlines would risk that.
