Air Canada Daily To CCS Summer Season

Tue Apr 10, 2007 2:53 am

In the Venezuelan Gazeta Aerea it was announced that Air Canada has teamed up with some well known travel agencies to promote Canada for holidays and language studies and, in order to offer a better product, they will start flying daily from Caracas on the 15 of June till the 30 of October. They did not say which type of plane or if the flight will be non stop or via port of Spain.

I'm guessing the flights are out of YYZ?

The flights are definitely YYZ. In fact this is an existing service (4x weekly, sometimes 5x weekly with a POS stop on one leg, using A319) and has been for some years, just has not been daily. I posted (and was roundly crticized) recently pointing out that the very bizarre schedule AC was operating (ie 4-5AM arrivals and departures CCS) was not conducive to building this route.

If indeed the plan is to promote Canada as a destination and for AC to "offer a better product" I hope the have resolved the issue of the ridiculous flight times or they might as well throw in the towel now.

With reasonable flight times, I think the market can be a very strong one for them.

This flight is ussually done with the A319 right...but there had been a discussion a while ago about since I think BOG and other places in south america were seeing the B767 that maybe CCS could get it. We'll see if AC can get enough ppl to demmnd a 767

Would AC consider doing DUB in the winter with the A319?

The only viable market to DUB from Canada potentially through the winter would be YYZ, and the

It's just a repeat of last summers schedule. Daily 1 stop service via POS and non stop back to YYZ.

CCS couldn't sustain a stand-alone A319 service year round. Not a chance you'll be seeing a 767 on that route anytime soon. 762's are on their way out, and no way a 763 will be deployed to CCS.

YYZ-DUB at 2849 naut. mi. would be beyond the economic range of a standard A319 (i.e. not the A319LR model with extra tanks) without a severe payload penalty, even without the usual strong headwinds westbound. That's 500 miles further than the longest route AC has used the A319 on in the past which was YYZ-BOG if not mistaken which is 2350 miles. They are using the A319 on their new YYZ-LHR route but that's only 2012 naut. mi.

Definitely no 319's on the YYZ-LHR route. Perhaps you mean YYT??

The only sustainable DUB traffic from Toronto is between April and October & perhaps over the Christmas holidays.

Yes, thanks. That was a typo. Should have read YYT-LHR. The mileage quoted is correct for YYT-LHR.

Do you think it would be possible without the SNN stop? I notice that Zoom fly from Vancouver & Totonto to Belfast

Well, very good that CCS gets daily service, even if its with a stop in POS, the market to Canada will be better covered.

The initial plan for BOG and CCS was to bring them to daily, but i guess we will have to wait on that one in BOG as they are only allowed to fly 4x a week. The plans were to fly the route in conjunction with AV on a daily basis, but i think that will take a couple more years, for now, we stick to our 3x weekly 767.
