AA: MIA-ORD 777 Service

Wed Apr 11, 2007 7:04 am

Today American Airlines begins daily 777-200 service between Miami and O'Hare, lasting through 14 August 2007.

AA 1115 MIA 1615-1825 ORD
AA 400 ORD 1105-1455 MIA

This is AA's fourth domestic 777 route. The others are Dallas-Miami, Dallas-O'Hare, and Los Angeles-Miami, which operate year-round. This is simple use of a plane that would otherwise be parked on the tarmac at O'Hare between long-haul services. The business class cabin is sold as Y, with AA's premium frequent flyer members and full-Y paying customers getting seats in business class.

This also gives AA greater flexibility and capacity to move a huge amount of Latin America-originating cargo up to ORD to head out to Asia, and visa versa.

Excellent addition. I'll have to hop on this route, as everytime I've checked, the 757 ORD-MIA looks extremely full and I"ve heard them looking for volunteers every time I'm in Chicago.
