AF 2F-2E Connection At CDG

Thu Apr 12, 2007 6:34 pm

Not sure if this would work that well at CDG

London (LHR)
Depart 06:40
Terminal 2 to Paris (CDG)
Arrive 09:00
Terminal 2F

Flight: AF2471
Paris (CDG)
Depart 10:20
Terminal 2E to Rio de Janeiro (GIG)
Arrive 19:00
Flight: AF444

or to go on the evening flight, quite fancy an AF A332 though.

Hello,

This seems to be very reasonnable, especially if you check-inn for GIG at LHR
going from 2F to 2E is just a 5 mins walk through a gallery between the two terminlas
located in the middle of the arrival floor (lowest) at 2E.

See the map on Aeroprty de Paris site:

http://www.aeroportsdeparis.fr/Adp/R...-4bc6-906c-ba0e8375f2b4-cdg2ef.pdf

I took 2E to EZE in the evenning last October, and it was very quick, security empty etc...

cheers

Sounds OK as well. Only thing to watch out for is that it can take you up to 30 minutes once you have cleared security at 2E, as some gates are accessed by bus (hardly any waiting time as they are pretty regular but to get to the temporary hangar can be a 15-20 minute bus ride)

Problem with this way is the need to go through immigration twice (once to exit 2F and once to go through to the 2E gates) since LHR flights are in the non-Schengen area. And, if your flight to GIG leaves from one of the E80-E87 gates, that will be another bus ride out to a remote terminal area (yes, a 2E extension terminal is about a 10 minute bus ride from the regular 2E terminal).

My preferred way to connect from non-Schengen 2F to 2E is to take the transfer bus - usually I stay away from those but from 2F to 2E, it is pretty much direct as 2E is the first stop enroute from 2F. If your gate is at the remote area (E80-87), there is also a special bus from the 2F connections area directly to the remote terminal 2E (thus allowing you to skip one extra bus ride and bypass the regular Terminal 2E).

One hour 20 mins sounds a bit tight if the LHR flight is a bit late and all that bus kerfuffle.

The exit immigration at 2F is very quick.

Where is that bus in 2E ? close to the transfer desk ? I never saw that, they might be a shuttle if the time for the transfer is short at the arrival organised by AF, this is all I know...

IIRC the satellite is very much for US-bound flights only (plus DL service to India), GIG should be from 2E proper.

Depends on time of day and what flights have just arrived...I've seen no lines there as well as very, very long ones...

It's at the same area where one takes the buses to the other terminals (down the escalator from the Correspondances counters). There is an exit for the transfer bus to 2A,B,C,and E; and another exit (further down) for the Satellite 2E.

I thought that AF had concentrated all of their US flights at 2E - was surprised to read here that the GIG flight now leaves from there (GIG was at 2C or 2F previously). The AF US flights are spread out between the main 2E and the satellite. DL only has one flight now at the satellite 2E (DL has stopped their CDG-India flights).

This is the daylight flight that should begin on October.

Sweet dream of a LON-GIG flight, would make thing easier ! 1h20 from London seems really too short time as during the morning several flights arrive at the same time at CDG. But you don't have to check-in again, so probably you will have time to connect.

New York + Rio de Janeiro = One of the best combinations !

True & wrong!!

If you have to go through the immigration when several A/C have landed, it can take you up to 30 minutes to go!!!
I'm used to fly to UK and I generally arrive late at 2F : several planes at the same time and only two (sometimes one) immigration boots are open!!!!

this is something I really find unacceptable for a big international airport like CDG and I do not know who to place the blame on : ADP or french authorities!
Flying is amazing!

I would advice against this at CDG. It is one of the worst airports to transit through and the BIG variable that is not being discussed is gate changes and waiting for a gate. Any delay on that front and you have missed your connection.
