Sat Apr 14, 2007 12:35 am

Just saw on the news that a plane crashed near the Sarasota/Bradenton Airport just a little while ago. As soon as there is a link up...I will post it.

Looks like a Diamond DA40 but the picture is really too small to decipher.

It looks like a Lake Amphibian on the shots I just saw. Sounds like it was just taking off. Cockpit appears to be burned badly.

The horizontal stabilizer in the picture appears to be somewhere in the middle of the tail, so that would rule out the DA40 as the "Star" has its stabilator on the top of the tail:

Definitely looks like an older aircraft.

I understand that and am aware of what a DA40 looks like. The first picture I saw was very small and all I could see were white wings and I could tell the stabilizer was elevated...I now see that it appears as to be.

I am sorry if my post was read as a sarcastic correction...it was not written to be that way. I was not questioning your guess on the aircraft type. I was trying to help figure out the aircraft type.  white
