AC/CP Merger By Spring

Sun Jul 30, 2000 1:58 pm

Robert Milton has told employees since AC took over CP that he was in no rush to merge the two. He wanted to make sure that all the union and seniority issues were sorted out first and that everyone was happy. Well apparently he has had a change of heart. The other day he sent out a message that he really wants to have this all done by spring 2001. Do you think he is rushing things or do you think that he isn't going fast enough.

IMO the faster the better and I dont say that because AC will save money having us all under the same umbrella although they will.

I say this because of the confusion evident with the travelling public and with compliments to the vulture styled media reporting that has caused the pressure to be applied on AC to get their act together.

Milton might have had the patience to wait things out a few months ago but nobody else does today.

Does anyone know when computer system inter-compatibility is expected between
the two carriers?

I heard by September 2000. This itself is causing headaches. For one thing, you can't
enjoy the benfits of an e-ticket is you're booked on an Air Canada/Canadian codeshare.
