Ansett Liveried CRJ At MAN

Sun Apr 15, 2007 4:57 am

I've been at Manchester today, doing a bit of spotting, and noticed a CRJ (I'm not sure of the exact model) with the tail livery of Annsett Australia. It appeared to have Citylinx or Citylynx written on the side, in italicised, styalised lettering. Does anyone know why this was in MAN? Also, spotted G-GPFI, Boeing 737-200 in OzJet livery. Have looked this one up on a.net, is this back in operation with EAC?

Thanks folks!

Not heard much about the carrier, however i've seen it around at Luton once or twice parked on the bizjet apron.

Thanks, appreciate that. It was on the apron near the bizjet area today at MAN. I saw it being towed out of the engine test area by a tug, guess it may be having some tests done by one of the engineering companies at MAN.

Do we know who actually owns the aircraft.?

The Ansett name lives on in the form of Ansett Aircraft Spares and Services or a name like that. I wonder if they could own it, or maybe the ownwers just don't want to remove the Ansett livery for sentamental reasons..

I believe to this day that Ansett still has several hundred million dollars in assets under Administration, which will eventually be sold, so possibly still owned by the Anset recievers and leased out.

G-ELNX is, according to the CAA, chartered by Citylynx. It had previously flown for Kendall Airlines, Australia where it was VH-KXJ and on the collapse of the Ansett Group was stored. I cannot find a reference as to if it is chartered from the administrators of Ansett or from Bombardier and the retention of the Ansett tail is a bit of a mystery..
