Mon Apr 16, 2007 6:14 am

Hey guys,

DL148 was diverted to BWI from LAX. It was suppose to go to JFK. Anyone know why?

Bad weather.

BWI has gotten a couple of diversions today due to the bad wx up here in New York.

I've always wanted to ask this question to everyone who posts questions about diversions...

Do you track these flights because you know someone on them? Or do you just have nothing better to do than hang out on FlightAware.com all day?

I don't really mean that to sound as insulting as it does...I'm an AvGeek, too...but some of the random questions that always end in "...why?" on this site freak me out a little.

And to answer your question...JFK is on a Ground Stop until 2145z and the WX in the northeast sucks today.

Hey OPNLguy... looks like you guys have your hands full with the ISP flights. What's Flight 8800 from BWI? Reposition or extra section?
Never argue with an idiot. They drag you to their level and beat you with experience.

On days like this I stand by Flightaware because I live near SWF and the airport usually ends up getting some diversions and if they are decent then I go out and try and get some photos.

Last August there were severe thunderstorms down in the city and quiet a few stuff diverted to SWF so I headed on over and ended up getting very close to an SAS A330-300 that had diverted from CPH on its way to EWR.

A better question would be why in the hell a post needs to be made about this? The answer should be obvious.

See, now I understand this. Knowing the wx is crappy and wanting to see if anything interesting diverts to your home airport. But, when you just, out of the blue, ask about a diversion...and, if you were in NY plane spotting, you would know the weather sucks...I just don't get it.

JFK is averaging 8-9 hour delays right now - weather pretty bad.

Not me; I'm off, and it's somebody else's turn in the barrel. I had my turn on Friday when this system plowed through Texas...  Wink

8800 is an extra section to accomodate Customers, since they probably cancelled some flights from earlier today due to weather and ATC....

Actually I was just looking at LAX schedules because my uncle is going to LAX and I didn't know the flight number so I went on flightaware.com at looked under LAX and I the word "Diverted" caught my eye.
