Piedmont Airlines said it had ordered six Boeing 767-200 extended-range wide-body aircraft and had secured an option on another six. The value of the order, with delivery expected to begin in May 1987, was not disclosed. The new Boeing is a medium- to long-range wide body that seats 220 passengers.

I know they had some for sure, but I can only assume all 6...

The took the 762ER's for the CLT-LGW service. Not sure if they had 6 or not, but that seems like a reasonable figure, because they flew some on transcons as well.

The original order of 6 was delivered to PD before the merger.
The options were converted and delivered, some before and some after the merger with US.

Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.

Yes, they did. The integration of the Peidmont fleet didn't take place until mid/late 1990. Some of the outstanding orders went directly to US after the merger. They were designated 767-2B7ER's rather than 201ER's.

Yes, the 6 Piedmont 762s were delivered between May 1987 and May 1988 and were originally registered N603P, 604P, 607P, 608P, 614P, 617P. After the merger with US they were re-registered consecutively N645US through N650US.

The first and the last of the 6 below:

How many were painted up, after US re-registered them, in BA's colours to mark the collaboration between US and BA?
