Etihad is planning to start a second daily flight to Paris CDG, most probably a morning flight and commencing in august. They just want to imitate Emirates, who are doing well on their double daily flights.The source is the station manager in Paris.....

Is the market large enough to warrant this second daily flight? With EYs relative low load factors, this move might be purely to dump capacity to hurt competition (EK and AF) and not to respod to market demand for its product.

with the second daily flight a lot of connections to Asia (BKK, MNL, KUL) and the Indian subcontinent/Pakistan is possible. Also for the SYD connection you stay only 2 hrs in transit which is quite good between two long-haul flights.
One of the cheapest rates from CDG to BKK is with EY, very very interesting fares. If EY start MAA, it would work great because there is a lot of demand on CDG-MAA (and other cities in India), although AF fly non-stop there they far too expensive.
I am not sure how the CDG loads are,but according to a colleague at LHR,EY struggle to get 100 pax on the inbound and outbound flights at LHR.I just do no see the point of EY,when you have probably got the most successful and rapidly becoming the biggest airline in the world flying from the same country....EK.There is no way EY can possibly compete.
