New Episode Of "World's Biggest Airliner"

Fri Apr 27, 2007 8:50 pm

Hi all

A new episode (for me anyways) of the wolrds biggest airliner is on now on Discovery Turbo (in the UK). Very interesting episode concerning the delivery and delays of the A380 programme detailling exactly the problems with the electrical harness. Very interesting indeed. Anyone else seen this before. I thought explained the problems very well and gives a good insight to the sheer size of the problems faced on the electrica of the aeroplane.

It was on several weeks ago (New) on the Discovery Channel, so this is a re run because they won't put a new episode of it on Turbo.

Also saw a documentary on Deutsche Welle-TV about the LH route proving as well recently, they said on that that the 380 boarded in 8 minutes at HKG.

It was rather interesting as explained the wiring problems causing the long delay to the programme were due to different software packages being used in the French and German plants, and so when it came to final assembly all the many miles of wiring was just not matching up. Also, during the "swimming pool" test, a hydraulic wire on the main gear got damage by the water spray impacting it at high force during maximum velocity. Really does give a good insight into such a huge development programme, and well done to Airbus for allowing the film makers to document the development through the good and the bad times and show all to the public.

They are still showing repeats of the earlier "World's biggest Airliner" programmes on Discovery Turbo, which is quite annoying. Didn't know there was a new series out, it will definitely be interesting viewing, anyone know what times they are showing them?

I just did a search on my TiVo to see if this is being shown in the US on DSC, and I did not find it.
