Here is Virgin Nigeria's first 767:

Why does it have the older tail logo? I compare it to:

I'm not talking the red band on the rear fuselage, but rather the styling of the letters in "Virgin".

Here's another mystery:

Why are they using the old fuselage font for "virgin nigeria"? Their website neatly displays the new logo adopted by the airline 6 months ago:

Ah yes, I see that too! Anyone know why? A botch up paint job? Old decals?

The VK 763 actualy has the new tail livery, infact alsmost the same as the new VS tails.

I wonder if DJ will adopt the new tail?

I do wonder (as EurostarVA says) why the titles are older?

The Virgin logo was revised last year. Compare the font on this tail, it's different from the one you posted. The text is sharper (as on the VK 737 tail) on your example. So, the VK B767 tail is a complete mix up.

I pity the disappearance of the green border on the tail.

Do consider that the "virgin nigeria" titles have been increased in size, dramatically, probably to compensate?

The overall effect is quite nice but I'm still perplexed about the use of the older fonts on both the tail and fuselage.

I believe the tail on the VK763 and the tail on the A346 in B742 post is the new Virgin tail livery. This tail is now the design to be used on all new and resprayed Virgin aircraft. The tail in the post by ENU is the old design with the border around the red. I don't know if DJ will follow suit as they SRB only has a small shareholding.

The red portion is correct, in the way it sweeps across the fuselage with no other colour between the red and the fuselage colour. However, the font used on the tail of the VK 763 is not the correct font. Virgin revised their logo font to make it more easily read. Compare the font used on the VK 733s, Virgin America A319s/A320s and new livery VS A346s and the 'birthday girl' VS B744 - they all display the new font. The VK 763 uses the old font.

The Virgin Nigeria fleet paintjobs seem to be pretty mixed up overall... The 733s have the old style tail colours with the green border, but the new font for the Virgin name on the tail. The 763 has the new tail design but the old font used for the Virgin name on the tail. The image in the opening post showing the VK fleet parked up shows the difference between old and new fonts nicely - new on the 733s, old on the A343 (sadly partly obscured, but you can clearly see the difference).
7late7, A3latey, Sukhoi Superlate... what's going on?

When the 733s go to Lufthansa Technik in Malta for servicing,
Do they ever make a tech-stop somewhere along the way? Just wondering because the route is over 1800nm long......and now that I think about, being empty going to Malta, would be an easy hop for the 733.

Yes they do, at Tamanrasset (Algeria).
