Some Air India And Indian Merger Questions

Sat Apr 28, 2007 2:24 am

Have these two airlines merged?

Whats going to happen to Indian's A320 family fleet, will it go to Air India Express?

What about Indian's subsidiaries Blue Dart Cargo and Alliance Air, are they going to remain, be done away with or absorbed into Air India and Air India Express.

Indian 320 fleet will be the domestic version of the merged entity.

Blue Dart is not a subsidary and was a privately owned courier company that has now been taken over by DHL

Whereas for the latter part of the question, initial reports suggested the plan to be somewhat like this--

Air India----International
Indian Airlines--Domestic
AIX--LCC International
CD--LCC Domestic
AIr India Cargo

But still a lot of route and aircraft integrations to take place lets see what happens in the coming mths

Will only be clear after a committee and then umpteen different sub-committees have submitted their proposals minutely evaluating things like engines compatibility, IFE and the choice of toilet paper. However, the final decision is up to the whim of aviation minister, Mr. Praful Patel.

Blue Dart is a subsidiary of DHL India and has no connection with AI / IC.
