UA And AA Luggage Interlining At ORD?

Sat Apr 28, 2007 12:31 pm

Quick question and will hopefully only take one respons to answer. One of my friends is flying through ORD to South Dakota from CHA. He's on American Eagle from CHA to ORD and UA Express from ORD to Rapid City, SD. So the question is do UA and AA have luggage interline agreements or will he have to claim his bags in ORD and then recheck them with UA? Thanks in advance for the help.

The bags will be checked through. Your friend should make sure the AA agent knows he is connecting to UA so that they can edit in the necessary flt information on the luggage tags. Your friend should also double-check his claim tags to ensure the bags are checked through.

Hopefully there is a long enought layover in ORD for the bags to make it. I don't know how much time is needed to interline in ORD, but it is generally more than when connecting to the same airline.

Thanks Matt. My friend said he had a 2.5 hour layover in ORD (at least going to South Dakota) so the extra time required shouldn't be an issue.
