Try the Mighty Mesaba (XJ), they are always hiring. Brutal hard work, but a good summer college job. Flight benefits are always good to have too. That DTW airport is a magnificent place.

ha...i'm the exact same as you. what school are u at?

anyway, two summers ago i worked at United for the season so i would check with them because they do it at alot of airports, not just their hubs. northwest would also be a good place to look, spirit...etc. good luck.

Never hurtrs to check, however a lot of the smaller outstations don't hire purely for the summer due to the costs in training (flying you to a hub, plus hotel, etc.). That said, when I worked for Comair I started in June, then when school started again in the fall just changed shifts to work the originator so it didn't conflict with class. My shift ended at 8, and class started at 9.30, so it all worked out. You'll find that sometimes the smaller outstations are more flexible if you want to try something like that.

Since you are looking for only summer employment, it may be more difficult since most companies want people for more than just a few months. Since you say you are in a pilot program, I assume that means you aren't in the area year-round, since the closest program is out at WMU.

Just for the summer would limit you primarily to pushin' wheelchairs for Prospect and the likes. Maybe you could get on with Signature at the FBO or ASIG throwin' bags.

However, since you are in a flight program, that may come to your advantage and you could perhaps land a summer job at Mesaba on the ramp, with the intent that you may return to fly for them someday. Or if possible you could work out a deal to work part time with them when you go back to school, if they have a station at the airport.

United does nearly all training locally. If there is no local trainer (unlikely) then they will ship one in from the hubs.

I guess you could always try to get on with NW in DTW, and then transfer to IND when you go back to school
