"FROST/NIXON" On Broadway + Boac VC-10

Thu May 03, 2007 6:32 am

In the current Broadway play "Frost-Nixon" David Frost is shown "about to land" at LAX from LHR? on a BOAC VC-10 (looks like a Standard). The time is 1977. Would this have been possible? I find no 1977 record of BOAC (should be BA?)
flights to LAX.

Pardon my ignorance, but how in a Broadway play do you "show" what looks like a Standard VC-10 "about to land"?

I'm not sure BOAC ever went to LAX and in 1974 they merged with BEA to form BA. Regardless, they would've been using Super VC-10s to the US, not standards.

Not sure about LAX but BA used the VC10 s (or super VC10s could never tell the difference) to JFK in 1977 , there are pics of Concorde and the VC10 at the BA terminal and Concorde only entered service to JFK in 1977.

BOAC became BA in 1977 but I am sure there would have been VC10s still in the old livery.

The VC-10 is shown on a grid of television screens at the back wall of the stage as Mr. Frost & his producer are "live' center stage in an airliner set (the seats are also too modern from my memory of Super VC-10's).
